    You have to look at who they play during the season. You can only the current years schedule to make that decision. (This is going to be just an example): Say National Champion Richmond scheduled the easiest schedule in the world (and I mean they play the teams high schools teams should beat) and goes the season 11-0. A team who plays 3 top 10 schools and finished the year 10-1. I'm taking the 10-1 team over the 11-0 Richmond. Why? Because they don't deserve it for this year. I wouldn't care if they won the past 3 National Championships. I'm not going to reward them this year if there is a more worthy team, even if they have more losses.

    And again, I'm not taking anything away from Montana being undefeated and this example/argument has nothing to do with Montana being undefeated. I'm just saying use this year's results, not what a team did last year.
