also, I know there is another perspective about this, BUT all of us are also acting like he was doing volunteer work when he was getting paid over 100K a year. what % of people in the world ever make over 100K a year. and he was doing that at a place that he said he loved with people who he apparently admired and cared about very much

I understand he got a big raise. but he is also moving his family a long way away, away from any family. he is moving away from a place and people who have cared for him, raised him, and loved him for a VERY VERY LONG time. he is moving away from a place where he was / is very special to a place where he is just the next guy in line

and the ONLY reason anyone can offer for him going is more money. i sure cannot think of any other reason. opportunity wise, he definitely would have kept the Jacks at the very top and more and better opportunities were DEFINITELY going to come

for a lot of you fine- you say 100k or 300k is decent money but he got a LOT more than that and you dont turn that down. well in my mind any time you do anything and the ONLY reason is money you are opeining the door to plenty of trouble. money is nice it is helpful but if money is your number one motivator you got a problem

You honestly can’t see how this would potentially be a stepping stone to something bigger for him? If he stays at SDSU for a couple more years and stays at the top of a division that people say is watered down and wins a couple a more championships where does that put him at on the prospect list? Are ACC/SEC/Big Ten schools calling for their head coaching job? Maybe but probably not. Now if he goes out there and wins for a few years get maybe wins 9-10 games a year maybe get ranked and make the CFP. Those conferences will come calling. Now his resume would show he won at his Alma mater where he was for over 15 years and worked his way up from player to ga to eventually head coach and won 2 titles while here and then spent lets say 5 years at WSU goes 40-20 with some time spent ranked and has a trip to the CFP as the G6 rep. You don’t think that resume looks better than 20 years at your Alma mater and 4 championships at a “lower” level.

I seriously wonder if Jimmy got pissed at Sell or someone else in the administration and decided the best thing to do was attempt to screw them over. I don't blame him for one second for taking a job that had an $8 or $9 million contract.

The thing that really sucks is the number of players he's poaching. He's potentially setting this program back a couple years. When he posts on X about how much he loves SDSU, etc. that rings pretty hollow to me as he sure appears to be talking out of his ass.

The post from Tucker Kraft on X a few days ago and the quote from Stig about being disappointed in how this situation unfolded is pretty telling as far as I'm concerned. Jimmy put a major stain on his legacy at SDSU which is a shame because he could have been an absolute legend.

I think the highest paid assistant at WSU in 2023 was $750,000 and decreased to $690,000 in 2024. Still, that's a bit more cash than $100,000.

I know that there are people out there that think Jimmy should have spent his life here. I don't think any realistic person believed that. I don't think there are many on this board that begrudge Jimmy for taking the Wazzu job. I think what bothers most people, me included, is Jimmy preaching character to his players previously, that they don't need to leave here, etc., and then, while still employed at SDSU, utilizing his access to players to lobby them to transfer to his new employer (contrary to his prior character admonitions to his players) before resigning and inking the deal at WSU. He's effectively an agent at WSU at that point and it was ****ty thing to do. We wouldn't invite the HC of any other program into the football building to recruit players and the HC of WSU shouldn't have been lobbying our players with SDSU resources.

Two things can be true: We can be happy for JImmy and wish him success and we can be pissed at how he left.

It's on twitter that he was doing it while he was leaving the program and the coaches were still doing it at the airport. Does it matter if he was doing it while being paid by SDSU? He called Stig day after christmas I think it was. Listen to that Stig appearance on Gaskins show if you haven't already.

There was even something on twitter about that WSU tampering accusation being about the old WSU coach, Dickert, and not Jimmy. Is a new Wake Forest HC more likely to recruit a UConn player, or is a new WSU coach more likely to recruit a UConn player?

If Adam Bock were to be a GA working for a NCAA football team next year, is he dreaming of becoming the next Stig, Jimmy Rogers, or Nick Saban? In 2022-23 he was making $100,000 something as SDSU DC, turned down almost $1,000,000 to be Washington State's DC, to settle in the middle at $300,000 as SDSU HC. Nobody would have said anything had he left as SDSU DC to become WSU DC, instead he essentially takes a WSU DC to SDSU HC paycut by almost $700,000 to stay in Brookings - although he did get a promotion from SDSU DC to SDSU HC and a $100,000-200,000 pay raise that came with that.

Now he gets about $1.5 million to go from SDSU HC to WSU HC, about a $1.2 million pay increase. He already turned down significant money (basically $700,000) to stay in Brookings over Pullman once. Once the offer got to basically $1.2 million and a HC vs DC, then he must not have been able to refuse it.

Also, what high profile coaching jobs end in a good way? Championship winning coaches eventually get fired at all levels after they go a few years of not winning a championship, underperforming coaches get fired at all levels, coaches leave to get a promotion and it's still a negative exit. My (least) favorite is when a coach takes over a team that is always below .500 for years or decades, turns them into a team that is consistently above .500 but maybe not consistently a championship contender, then they get fired for being a product of their own success and the program goes back to below average.

Thats a fair amount of keesh. Maybe double the current salaries would have kept him off it at least for a few more years.

The other thing I have to say is that at SDSU it wont be that hard to look good for a long time. Theres no one hit wonder that needs to be immediately taken advantage of like catching lightning in a bottle at W Illinois. Rogers could have waited but at the same time hes spent is entire career at State.

Well, from that standpoint they got continuity with the second natty. Maybe Stig would have gotten another anyway with Rogers moving on. Who knows.

The greatest shock might be that Jimmers was only coach for 2 years before he got an offer he couldnt refuse. The AD must have thought at the time 'I'll get at least 4-5 out of him.'
