That was a hell of a recruiting class. I think Jimmy taking the top end talent from that class shows two things: 1: SDSU can be on par with G6 schools as a destination for talented kids with the big difference being that SDSU has and will have the regular opportunity to play in meaningful games; and 2. Jimmy has a real connection with players. I think he'll be successful in Pullman if the admin and fanbase there gives him the resources that are on par with their new conference peers.

This is getting a little ridiculous. I get a number of players going with the staff due to relationships built, but it seems as if Rogers and Co are trying to completely gut SDSU. There is something personal to this. Don't try to tell me that this "is how it works with college athletics these days" because this is a completely different situation, this is a coach leaving a program that gave him a chance out of HS and rolled out the red carpet for him as a coach. Gutting a program that you have no ties to is one thing and "is how it works with college athletics these days", but the fact Jimmy is gutting the very place that truly gave him a chance is a little disgusting.

The silver lining of so many following the staff to Pullman: They aren't going to North Fargo. A lot of these were recruiting battle wins against the Bison and no doubt the Bison would find room for a lot of these guys. So far, we haven't seen any commitments flip to our MVFC competitors, although its probable one or two will end up at NDSU. But each of these recruits that ends up in Pullman is a recruit that doesn't end up in Fargo.

Man, do I ever appreciate all of you and your in depth insights and time and effort put in. I don't have all that specific info. but I just can't help but look at some of these or perhaps the great majority of these kids, and some are 18-19-20 years old! How many did basically a knee jerk reaction and flipped to WSU!!!??? They are pissed to some degree and did the easiest thing of following Rogers. Did any of these "kids" meet with Jackson to get a perspective so they can more totally analyze their situation?? Maybe none did. As a Dad, I would have for sure had my son, if he was a Jack's recruit, meet with Jackson to help analyze my choices, otherwise you have a knee jerk reaction!!!!
I would think the parents of these athletes would push to at least have a meeting with Jackson. These kids were smart in HS...their parents gave them good guidance I would surely presume....what happened??? Parents spend all your life helping you, a college coach just a small amount of time!
I'm pushing 80 years of age. I've had a lot of good things happen in my employment future by analyzing and some not very good....as those not good were more knee jerk reactions!!!
I've been accused of being too analytical at times but I see people spending more time deciding their next possible vehicle purchase then planning their next employment opportunity!!! That's not good decision making!!
Maybe this will settle down in a few years, and athletes like Tucker Kraft will help new players make a concerted decision after thoroughly analyzing their options??? Doesn't appear to me that these younger 'kids' are doing this. Maybe I'm wrong but quick decisions usually are trouble.

I think in each case, some of the staff stayed behind, and in those days, transfer rules weren't so liberal. When Entz left, he alone hit the road and most of his staff was still in Fargo, working for NDSU, even though they perhaps weren't retained by Poliseck (Roehl, for a big example). Everyone is gone. Hard to blame a kid in that circumstance. I'm thankful for the kids that are honoring their commitment. I had hoped that the new coach could retain a few more of the higher profile recruits but that likelihood seems to be shrinking by the day and hour.

Entz left as a HC to go be a LB coach. Don’t think that taking multiple staff members with him was an option at USC. Kleiman had extensive experience before he got to NDSU, and had connections for staff outside of the NDSU staff. Entz was the on-staff guy ready to replace him.
Jimmy’s entire coaching career (minus 1 year as GA at FAU) was at SDSU. It makes sense that he would hire the ones he knows at his new job, since WSU’s coaching staff was also all gone. I can’t say that I blame him, but the situation still sucks. Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone on last years staff was ready to be seriously considered for HC at SDSU. If there had been, maybe this all plays out differently.

It has to be in the portal era. I think James Madison might be a good example with Cignetti and Indiana or look into the Sac State coach leaving for Stanford or the UIW coach leaving for Texas State 2 years ago. UIW lost a whole bunch of people but I know the current coach was OC then, so there was some continuity.
Honestly I think someone here posted that WSU lost 26 people. See what Dickert did. Did Dickert take his WSU staff to Wake?
