Jackson Powers 3 years eligibility looks like he had offers from Butler, Uconn, Elon, Morgan State, and St. Thomas. Eids has an older follow on this guy
    Former Minnesota DB Powers committed.

Saw on the JI blog that Thompson originally committed to NIU before deciding to walk on at Iowa. So Eidsness should have some idea of what he has to offer.

Mitch Sherman from the Athletic and Connor Happer - Locked on Nebraska Podcast

    Some notes:
Jackson recruits Omaha really well (including while at Northern Illinois)

Sherman suggests Jackson will get several people currently on (or in portal from) Nebraska in the next few months and tossed out the name DB Koby Bretz (twitter) (Omaha Native, HS coach connected to Jackson) as an example. Fun note: on Koby's page, he's retweeted NIU DT Cade Haberman declaring for the NFL Draft. Cade is from Blair NE, and was a freshman at NIU in 2020 -- Jackson's first year.

Sherman basically says it could be free pickings for Jackson for some FBS players from local schools who may not get a spot at other locations due to roster sizes.

reposting for visibility considering Sherman basically called Bretz coming to SDSU

and he committed . S/LB his bio says

Here is an article on him from SI (maybe the hawkeyes section if that's what they're doing now) on Feb 14, 2024 - maybe. Tweet associated with it.
"Next up in series on Iowa Football's '24 PWO Class is Graham Eben (@EbenGraham) from @CLGLRFootball He turned down scholarship offers from SDSU, NDSU, UNI & others..."

Yes that is the absolute advantage to this staff. The FBS connections both to the local area and to Vandy (and SEC teams he'd be familiar with) and NIU (and their old conference foes). I assume more so with Eids since Jackson is a year removed although I wouldn't count out the # of Jackson compared to Eids due to Jackson's personality.

Maybe picking up a player who Eids originally recruited but the player opted to go to a diff school (like Illinois) is a bit more realistic than us getting a SEC player that Jackson recognized as being a good player.

Regarding the upcoming roster trimming. Nebraska has to get rid of something like 22 players. Their walk on program may be a bit different than the other schools, but that's still a lot of players floating around, and they can't all end up at the g5 schools. This program still has top level FCS recognition.

We should have an "in" with NIU if they cut anyone interesting loose.

Absolutely agree on the trenches, I think TE's will be fine. Delahoyde is the next chance to have a Goedert or Kraft, more upside than Stoffel in my opinion.

RB is the easiest position to have good dudes come from the portal. WR can be upgraded easier than the trenches as well.

Exactly…a knee jerk reaction for your future usually is not good because you didn’t analyze enough. But, unfortunately these ‘kids’ didn’t have much time to decide. I’m stoked for the guys that stayed…they will be amazing…as has been mentioned before!!!

On the bright side, the uncertainty should be over soon with the # of ?? names left.

Ollman, McShane and Van Tol would likely be the starters. Lots of speed, a little undersized maybe. Beyond that, a lot of youth.
