John Stiegelmeier says starters don't lose their job due to injury. So Zach Lujan should return. But Taryn Christion will continue to play.

Scotty Kwas mentioned about midway through the third how the wind had picked up and felt pretty strong on the field.

Maybe TC is outplaying him in practice, but we can't give recruits the impression that if you get hurt, are a starter, and have played pretty good that you might not see the field again.
I would think it would be far more effective on the recruiting trail to be able to tell young players that if they are the best player for the position, they will get every opportunity to play. I'm assuming most 18 yr olds don't want to have to wait until whatever incumbent is there to graduate before they get playing time.

He might not 'lose his job due to injury' so much as TC may be a better player. Lots of players have lost their starting spots due to other players passing them on the depth chart due to another player passing them up. Conventional thought was that Lujan was the guy who had the best grasp of the offense (and was capable enough as a passer/leader etc.) to offset the unquestionably higher ceiling for the more athletic/stronger armed freshman. 6 weeks later it is very possible that the equation has shifted.

Well, my opinion before the game was you can't waste his redshirt on a game or two.

                But, that's over.

Lujan has played well. Christion adds another dimension. And along with the running, a stronger arm. That pass to Cam Jones b4 half was 50 yards in the air...after a scramble to the right.

However, the concern with running qbs, is the injury thing, and Christion did get dinged a bit last night, and was hobbling a little after a scramble out of bounds.

I'd start TC, and have Lujan on alert. We may need him yet. And I've been a big Lujan fan.

To that point: TC's senior year at SF Roosevelt ended when he broke an ankle in the third game of the season. But I don't think he was dinged up last evening. I think his left calf or his left foot was cramping. Likely the cramping is as much caused by his hydration and the temp on the field etc.

I think it's a reference to the "you can't have 2 qb's on the field" comment. Which is obviously not the case, I should add obvious in my opinion

No it wasn't. The thought of TC taking reps at WR or punt returner is absolutely ludicrous.

Could be an asset at WR for a wrinkle I guess. But PR would be as bad a decision as the last play of the first half. Would be interesting to use them in a wildcat type formation of you feel TC needs to be on the field as well as Lujan.
As for me i'm solidly in the TC should be on the field for most offensive plays for the rest of the year, camp.

One of the things he needs to work on is realizing when he has gotten about all he can out of a run and then going into a slide to avoid contact. You have to admire his instinct to fight for the extra yards, but that very often is when you are most vulnerable to hits that cause injuries.

Agree completely. Lujan doesn't do anything that TC can't, but TC can do a lot that Lujan can't.

Much easier to adjust to a pocket passer than it is to a dual threat.

So we pop the redshirt and TC plays only one game assuming Lujan is back Saturday and plays the rest of the season. As ludicrous as it seems to you, it would be a way of utilizing his athletic ability and skills. That's all I am saying.
