Hope so too. But I think we will need a big walk up crowd for that. A large number of reserved tickets are still available.

I was contemplating this and thought that Hobo Day should have been this weekend. No offense to WIU, but we knew last year that YSU was going to be really tough this season. That alone would draw fans out (I would hope) in late October. If Hobo Day was this weekend we could probably have expected large numbers for both games rather than contemplating a smaller crowd tomorrow.

Just my thoughts. But I've made my opinion known on our scheduling many times.

TV tweeted that the ticket office is expecting 11,000, depending on the weather, of course. He also noted that only GA tix remain for our final two home games.

Wow! That's great news weather wise. We will need that walk up crowd your talking about. Earlier forecast of 80% rain was scaring some people away. Plus, its the first day of resident only pheasant season which will keep some of the people away as well - or maybe late to show.

A must win for the Jacks if we are to be serious about making the playoffs. Bison, YST, UNI will all be extremely difficult wins. Plus, the Yotes will be inspired when they visit Brookings.

Chance of rain diminishes to 10% by evening. Temp at game time should be close to 60 and by 9:00 p.m., middle 50s.

While I can easily follow this line of reasoning, fairly recent history shows that a strong opponent late in the season isn't necessarily enough to attract great numbers.

November 7, 2009 it was about 60 degrees with a 10 mph wind when we hosted SIU for our last home game of the year.

They were 8-1 at the time, undefeated in conference play, and ranked #3 in the nation.

SDSU was 7-2 and coming off 4 straight wins. Two of those wins were at home against top 10 UNI (15K for Hobo Day), as well as North Dakota State. We were ranked #9 and essentially playing for a spot in the playoffs for the first time in a generation.

Attendance was just over 10,000. We will beat that number handily on Saturday, and have at least the usual 15K crowd for Hobo Day later.

Maybe it would be different now.

I would say schedule wise it would be nice to have a home opener the first week of the season. I hate waiting 3 weeks into the year till we get the first home game. I would love to see thw schedule come out with 3 home games in sept or oct and just 1 in nov but I doubt that will ever happen.

With my health condition, this is great news as opposed to eariler predictions of rain and cold. Since I have media comm in my living room, it was tempting to stay home but I dont think I will now. One more butt towards filling the staduim.

Goose jerky turned out surprising good. Kids were even eating it for breakfast today. Going to smoke 4 racks of ribs tonight for the tailgate tomorrow. Weather appears to have straightened out and the odds of getting really wet are slim to none. Appears to be another great day to tailgate and cheer on the Jackrabbits.

I think the Jackrabbit defense can handle Watson. I watched part of the USD game and he isn't fleet of foot nor is he shifty. He is large and the larger they are the harder they fall. Going to have to tackle him low and in gang like fashion.

If the Jacks play well it should be a 10 point victory.

I agree with stoping watson almost every year when we get hurt in a running game is the quick shifty backs. We typically do well against bigger stronger guys. We have also do a great job of ganging up on tackles. Mobile qbs and smaller backs have always been our problem. I would love to see a lot of blitzing on our part so we can maybe stuff um in the back field some and to maybe rattle the qb.

Well, that was three years ago so there is a chance it would be different. I guess if it isn't, either WIU or YSU was going to be lightly attended no matter what. That's sad given the 4-1 start.

Do you remember Harry Jackson who played for St Cloud, he was built a great deal like Nikko Watson. In prior games he got a bunch of yards, but I remember one game where we stopped cold in his tracks nearly every play. Apparently a good defense game plan did the trick that day. I expect the same tomorrow night.

I remember this game. It was over 60 degrees in November and SIU came out and took us to the woodshed. I left by halftime to go enjoy the unseasonably warm weather.

Agreed. Hard to push for a new stadium when you can't get fans to show up in full force to watch your 4-1 team, but I do understand that it is the pheasant opener.

Makes me think of last year's poor attendance for the UNI game. I believe they were ranked #2 in the nation at the time. If I recall correctly, Stiggy was none to happy about this and used the post-game interview to express his disappointment.
