I don't dispute anything said in your post, in fact you did a better job of debunking this idea than I did. My thoughts on the lottery are that they have not worked as orginally thought. My property taxes went down a few bucks this year, but I am willing to bet the lottery did not make that happen.

Excellent points. The law always seems to get in the way of my good ideas...

Just for reference, here is a list of the current scratch games http://lottery.sd.gov/games/scratch/

That's a lot of games with little to no incentive to buy other than winning. If I could buy a chance to win, plus know I'm supporting a cause, that is a win/win in my book and should result in higher sales across the board. Whether those higher sales would off set a lower percentage of the take for the state is another matter.

Would it be possible to write the law in a way that somehow limits participation? Of course, it would be interesting to see what organizations would actually want to attach their name to something as controversial as lotto - my guess, very few.

            Another thought, bear with me.

Where the revenue goes, could the stadium portion fall under operation cost?

That "operational cost" is referring to the cost of the lottery commission, employees, equipment, travel, etc. so no. And the way the budget process works changing any of the current distribution scheme for the current lottery dollars is a non starter, BUT maybe a change is made to allow a special ticket for 2 dollars, the first dollar goes as currently, the second goes to special camupus projects. I think ALOT of people would buy a ticket every once in awhile if they knew the money was going toward the stadium. Heck let all of the campuses do it and earmark how where their procedes would go. That just might have a chance of passing........

                Re: New Stadium

Will seating in the new stadium again be based on priority points? Or perhaps we'll move to a PSL type seating for certain areas of the stadium? I guess it depends on what kind of seating we end up with. Wouldn't be surprised to see a PSL and annual donation requirement for prime 50 yard line seats.

I got it for the second time yesterday. Every time I see the drawings for the staduim and field house, I think how awesome that would be. Would love to see that happen sooner then later. would make it the premier stadium in the region IMO.

I imagine the 50 yard-line seats would cost you some beau coup dinero. On the survey they ask basically how much would you spend on box seating. It. was. a. lot.

I got my survey again yesterday and since I completed the first one, I did not think it was necessary to fill out a second one unless questions were added to the first mailing.

TK: when you wrote PSL seating--what did that mean? Your comment made it sound like it was an alternative to the point system for purchasing season tickets.

There will be a point system -- likely the same type of system we now have which gets tweaked once in a while. So, for those who want to lock in the ability to get good seating in a new stadium, think about buying season tickets and increasing donations now. You need motivation? Talk to someone from a Big 10 school about what it takes to purchase good season tickets -- I have a brother in law who has great tickets on about the 40-45 yard line, about 10 or 11 rows up, at TCFed Bank Stadium for Gopher games. You may be shocked to find out what that costs. The cost of game-day parking alone would shock most 'Rabbit fans. And the fact is, for the entertainment value, a competitive MVFC game is every bit as entertaining as a competitive Big 10 game. Our tickets are dirt cheap and to support a new stadium and meet demand, they will and should go up in price.

PSL = premium seat lease? One pays a fee to lease the seat for a given number of years in addition to the ticket price.
