  • Re: Summit OOC

Minnesota ended up pulling away in the 2nd half and won 92-79. UNO could be a very good team if they knew how to play a little defense. They are defiantly no pushover team like last year.

Yesterday's games also included Leatherneck men(5-6) beating Troy(4-6) in a Utah tourney. The Denver women(1-10) lose to Marquette.

UNO will definitely have an impact on the men's side of things. I like how they slipped in under the radar (to all of us Dakota fans anyway). It's too bad (for them) that they are not eligible for the tournament.

On the women's side the Summit has the potential to pick up some big wins today.

        - 8-4 IUPUI plays 8-2 Northwestern.
        - 7-5 USD plays 8-2 (#19) Nebraska
        - SDSU vs.8-3 Mid Tenn

Will the football game results two weeks down the road be different? I have my doubts.

No one has any reason to believe it will be different.

How many teams/fans of teams have thought they could hang with NDSU the past two years? Countless.

Yet, NDSU has not given anyone any reason to believe they can hang with NDSU.

I'll be shocked, SHOCKED if Towson plays within 17 points of NDSU.

In the women games, UNO(6-5) and IPFW(7-6) both get wins. IUPUI(8-5) loses to Northwestern 72-61 and as reported earlier the yotes(7-6) were whipped by Nebraska.

The rest of the men's games included Western Ill(5-7) beaten by UCSB, Ft Wayne(10-4) beating Eastern Ill, and IUPUI(4-10) beaten by Indiana St.

Nice win for Omaha. Can't overstate how important theses non-conference wins are for the league and its RPI ranking.

ESPN's current RPI has us fifth in the Summit.

                            NDSU 38
                            UNO 79
                            Denver 160
                            IPFW 171
                            SDSU 208

NDSU has been looking good, but definitely not THAT good. Denver has shown potential but blew a winnable game Saturday (UC Irvine). Both UNO and IPFW lack big wins, but they have been consistently taking care of business. They look like solid top-5 Summit teams right now.

The Jacks have two more OOC road games (plus a game at IUPUI) to polish things up before rolling into Fort Wayne on January 11. Both UMKC and Buffalo should be beatable, but you never know with road games.

As I have not a thorough understanding of the RealTime RPI, is this based on playing a tough schedule only or does winning factor into this as well. For example, if a team had 10 games and always played a Top 25 team would that give them a better score irregardless of winning any games?
