This is a scary team. Last year I thought Justin Simmons would be a POY candidate coming into this season. So far he's averaging 6.8 pts on 28% shooting. If he gets it going, watch out.

Sunday games included the Denver(4-5) men beating Wyoming by 3.

IUPUI(7-4) women lose to Indiana 51-45. SDSU women go to 8-4 OOC.

NDSU is good. Denver will be good. IPFW looks like they're good.

Summit is going to be a tough league this year, I think. Jacks have the pieces to make noise, but are still a work in progress I think.
This is why its nice to have a team or two like UMKC. Few things are worse for a conference than to have a jumble of teams mixed up in the middle at about .500 at the end of the year (see MVFC playoff bids). It would be nice to have 1-2 teams that struggle in the conference season.

          Re: Summit OOC

Based on the Sagarin computer rankings, The Summit League would rank as the 15th strongest conference if ORU were a part of the conference. Without ORU the women still rank as 15th and the men 18th. The ORU women are down this year.

The bolded would not surprise me a bit. Even though we drilled them in Frost last year, I recall them being very athletic and not very far away from potentially being a good team.

I think IUPUI and Western Illinois will fit in that category.

I watched Oakland against Michigan State the other night (I realize they are no longer a SL team, but only a year removed). They are VERY athletic and fun to watch. They gave MSU everything they wanted and then some. I don't see them following ORU's post SL "path" - the Horizon is where they want to be.

Anyone have any insight to how UNO is doing this? According to this site, they only have 3 scholarship players & a bunch of walk-ons. Just seems odd from what I was expecting from them this year.

I'm telling you folks, the Summit League with ORU could make a real play for a couple MVC schools.

Wow, the conference is really on an upswing here lately after a very slow start to the non-conference season.
