        Awesome...

Had someone tell me today that getting the news that the release from Oahe would be increased to 150,000 was a "death blow," will be interesting to see what it gets raised to now.

Will be going out to sandbag once again tonight, going to spend every night after work out there to get until this is over.

We have all the water we need, as well. Pactola is full and there is a lot of small stream flooding this weekend. We've had well over an inch in last 24 hours - they had 4" of snow up around Hill City last night.

We had an unfortunate drowning of a 10 year old boy last weekend and they were able to close the gates at Pactola to search for the boy.

I just got back from Yankton, was a zoo down by the dam and lake between the campers, and sand baggers. I added a few more pictures, wanted to take some video but left my memory card, on top of the weather being as bleak as it is, cloudy, drizzling and rainy doesn't make for great video.

is that part of a recruiting trip as well? ..... good luck up there, it looks like it could be very bad up there down here and everywhere in between.

My 2nd grade teacher use to tell us how bad the river flooded before the dams were installed (she was old), well from the sound of it this could be worse. remember be safe, also if you are halling sandbags don't over fill your pickup, one just about hit me in Yankton yesterday, personally I don't care but wouldn't want an accident to be caused over this.

Just for the record, sounds like they are going to lose alot of home in Minot also as the Souris River upstream received another 4 inches of rain over the weekend. Mandatory evacuations for ALOT of that city right now as the Levees they had built will be 1 foot too low and they dont have the time nor resources to build them up.

Snow pack was 180-200% above normal and it sounds like the weather is going to warm rapidly this week and further fill the Yellowstone that is still swelled with rain water..

This is what I dont understand....WHY IN THE F*** is the Corps holding back the information the residents of EVERY town along the Missouri and its tributaries need to prepare?? Fort Peck swelled 3/4 of a foot last night and Sakakwea 1/2 a foot. This is all happening OVER NIGHT and the inflow right now at Williston is 150,000CFS if they release 85,000 to 120,000 it STILL wont help just do the math.

                        Sorry for the rant

yeah tomorrow they are going to open the spillway at Garrison for first time ever? thats crazy, Fort Peck Spillway is running and it hasn't even been up to the spillway in years.

I think the corps are in a tough position because I honestly don't think they know what is going on, From what I have read its a 500 year flood, its the type of flood Rapid City had in 72, where after a wet year they had a big snow fall in the winter, large spring rain and rapid snow melt. The difference is rather then Rapid Creek its the Missouri River, to make matters worse the River is damed. From what I've gathered prepare for 170,000 cfs release, and don't be surprised for 200,000 cfs.

Does anyone up North Dakota know, we were hearing reports at work today that they are starting to do emergency releases on the James up north, can anyone confirm or deny? If that is so, Yankton County is SCREWED because they are already saying the Mo is going to back up into the James...

The snow pack in MT hasn't even begun to melt. We were in the 60's today and it supposed to stay in the 60's and low 70's the rest of the week.

The water you are getting is from the 8+" of rain we have gotten in May.

Some places actually increased snow pack over the weekend.

I think the Corps is trying to give people a chance to prepare before they ramp up flows. It would have been hard to prepare for a 500 year event. It's fortunate most everyone there is getting their belongs out of their houses. Many folks this way lost everything because the flooding happened overnight.
