At least the USD women are pretty good. How good are they, you ask? Let me handle that one for CoyoteFan by channeling the genius of Chad Lavin.

Lavin logic: UND, a top-30 D1 team, was beaten by Wayne State, making Wayne a top 20 D1 team. Wayne was beaten by Minnesota State, Mankato. Therefore, MSUM is a top 15 D1 team. And USD will beat MSUM, meaning USD would be a top 10 D1 team. Though we're not willing to admit it (because we're all wearing SDSU-yellow-and-blue glasses) in the Dome, USD would be favored over Tennessee by about 40-billion points. In Knoxville, they'd only be a 20-billion point favorite. As always, there'd be about 200,000 packed into the "Danger Dome" to see that game.

Actually, Tennessee is scared of USD and has been ducking the Coyotes for years.

Looks like Udot bowed out against NSU.

Augie beat MSUM and will be the only NCC team in the semis. They get NSU their future conference mate in the next round so at least there will be a South Dakota team in the region championship. Could be an all NSIC final if Winona is as good as billed.

Just looked at the Argus and I see UNO made the regional too. I guess they could also represent the NCC in the semis. Kind of forgot about them.

At least Udots football team can schedule even more NAIA schools going up a division. I bet they are really happy about that. They get more scholarship players and get to play more NAIA teams. Isn’t that part of their strategy for success?

Well, I was wrong. I actually thought the USD men would win a couple of games in the playoffs. Instead they got dumped in their first game by Northern. Obviously the Yotie men were over-rated and over-hyped from day one, just like their over-hyped football team. Maybe the women's basketball team will salvage the school's image a little. It's going to be a very long haul for the USD men when they start playing D-I teams on a regular basis instead of filling half their schedules with NAIA teams.

Be careful now...I have noted that when Coyote Fan is cornered, he resorts to saying things like "I'm just telling the truth..." or "I'm just stating the facts..." By making a simple declaration, he thinks he has the stronger argument.

How can you debate with a fellow who declares he is always right?

I don't trust people who have to explicitly tell me when they're not making stuff up.

SDSU wins regular season games and doesn't only just lose playoff games but doesn't even barely gain positive yards. Now that is really coming through in the clutch. If you want to talk about football and history it's a losing battle so you'd be better to just let the thread run out right here with the football talk.

Okay choke coyotes choke, just like in men's basketball this year. And yes its Dave Boot's fault that it happen this way. USD needs a new mens coach and maybe everything else needs to be dumped out and replaced by people selected by the Coyote Fan. He is the man who knows what is best for USD.

Here's what you can expect: You'll lose every single FCS game that you play next year. And they won't be close. Meanwhile, we'll be playing for another top-25 finish and a spot in the FCS playoffs.

No its one season later that Coyote fan is talking about. USD in the 1986 playoff took out UC-Davis in the first round and then they hosted Troy State in Vermillion which they also won. Then on to Florence where they faced the Bison and were trounced just as they were in regular season. Prior to 1986, they did not have regions for the playoffs and that is how NDSU and USD both ended up in the finals. Shortly there after, D2 membership change the rules and established regions to prevent another NCC match up in the playoff finals.

Yes the 1985 Hobo Day was big and USD got put in their place, and I dont think Coyote Fan would want to mention that.

You are talking 1986 here, where the Coyotes choked in the D2 final game against the NDSU Bison. Some one else the Yotes have not figured out how to beat. SDSU has.
