You are talking 1986 here, where the Coyotes choked in the D2 final game against the NDSU Bison. Some one else the Yotes have not figured out how to beat. SDSU has.

Do you have any cute remarks about the 1958 hoops team? They were good and I am old enough to recall them very vividly.
Other than 1958 there is not a whole lot to talk about except for the upcoming big victory over Culver-Stockton. Gosh that game will be fun to watch.

Ahh sorry, I've only been an SDSU fan since 1997 when I started going to school there. So forgive me for not living in the past. Are you seriously smacking us for something from 2 decades ago?

Let me guess you beat them in the playoffs 20 years ago?

    Congratulations.

Good luck with that, as the rest of the United States pronounces it "ki-YO-tees" and "pee-AIR" as opposed to the South Dakotan pronunciations.

As far as the Davis game if USD gets pummelled so be it but at least between the two teams last time they played with the chips on the line USD got the win out in California. Something SDSU fans really don't know much about.
I'm not sure if I'm following you. We've beaten UC Davis the last 3 times we've played and Cal Poly the last two times, with two of those games played out in California...

Actually we have a 3-2 advantage all-time over UC Davis... What's your record?

""We knew it was going to be difficult that first year," Nielsen said. "From our end, it is a little surprising that we would go this deep into the year and still be working on the schedule, but in dealing with established FCS schools, it doesn't appear that it's uncommon."

"When you you get into the nuances of trying to move games and move schedules around, it hits you about the amount of time and phone calls that are involved," Nielsen said. "It's not like you're just trying to find a dance partner - a lot of the time you're trying to find a whole dance hall just to make one move."

Can't imagine why it is so surprising, I seem to remember lots of quotes in the Argus and Fargo Forum during the XDSU's first couple of years about how difficult it was to get games set up.

I did not read the article, but I'm assuming the reporter is not use to writing articles about the GWFC schools. The article referred to "Cal-Davis". In this area, people are adamant about Davis not being a "Cal" school. Davis is a "UC" school. The admission requirments for a "Cal" school, like Cal-Poly, Cal-Poly Pomona, Cal-Bakersfield, are less than a "UC" school. The "UC" schools are UC-Berkeley, UC-Davis, UC-Irvine, UC-Los Angeles, etc. UC-Davis takes great pride being a UC school and to call them "Cal-Davis" is a slap in the face. Well the USD beat writer will figure this out when he comes out here to cover a game.

    Go State!!!
    Go Jacks!!!

From an article in today's argus about USD 2008 football schedule:

The moving and shaking of the University of South Dakota’s 2008 football schedule continues – with several games locked down, but not locked down tight. In the school’s first year outside the North Central Conference and Division II, athletic director Joel Nielsen said USD has 10 opponents secured, although the dates for many of those games are still being discussed.

USD will play NCAA Division II Missouri-Rolla at home on Oct. 11 for homecoming. The Coyotes will also play North Dakota at home this season on Nov. 22, according to UND. USD will bring in three NAIA schools to the DakotaDome, although the dates have not been confirmed.

On the road, USD will play Great West Conference opponents Southern Utah and CalPoly, but will not begin playing Cal-Davis, the other Great West school, until 2009.

Additionally, USD will face FCS schools Southeast Louisiana, Montana State and Northern Iowa on the road.

Nielsen is still trying to get another game to fill an expected gap in the schedule later in the season.

The business of the 2008 season, though, remains one of the athletic department's most persistent issues. The school's non-counter status for 2008, coupled with the recent success of the program at the Division II level, has made playing the Coyotes next year a tough sell.
I swear to God this is from the Argus not the Volante. I am not sure what anyone is smoking over there but they really did print this.

Why is Nielsen sounding off in the Plain talk? Seems to me Fred Oien has worked more quietly about the move to D1. I am sure Fred ran into a great deal of resistence locally. Its nice that at least two of the SDSU corporate sponsors are local, namely First Bank and Trust and Daktronics. The rest of the business community has been supportive maybe on lesser level. In Vermillion, we dont hear about local corporate sponsorships in Vermillion period. Why not? I suppose one the business and industrial community is smaller and less interested than they are in Brookings. USD is going to have to work very hard to get their corporate sponsorships. They will have to come from Sioux Falls or Sioux City. That is not an easy task.
