Seriously, if you don't look at that schedule and smirk a bit you can't come on here and claim to be objective about Coyote sports anymore.

    Wow, look at this schedule!

    USD releases 2008 football schedule
    Mick Garry • April 22, 2008

The University of South Dakota’s 2008 football schedule – the Coyotes’ first outside the North Central Conference and NCAA Division II – will feature several big-time road games and several small-time home games.

USD, in its first year playing a transitional NCAA Football Championship Series schedule, will play on the road six times – with five of those games against FCS opponents.

The Coyotes will play five home games, with four of them coming against NCAA Division II opponents or lower.

Coach Ed Meierkort’s team will have a 20-day break between its Oct. 11th homecoming game against Missouri S&T and a Nov. 1 road game at North Greenville (S.C.) University.

USD concludes its season with a home game against longtime NCC rival North Dakota, which is also making the transition to FCS.

The schedule, released Tuesday, is as follows:
Aug. 30 – St. Ambrose (home), time TBA
    Sept. 6 – at Northern Iowa, 4:05 p.m.
    Sept. 13 – at Southeastern Louisiana, 6 p.m.
    Sept. 20 – Culver-Stockton (home), 2 p.m.
    Sept. 27 – at Montana State, 1:05 p.m.
    Oct. 4 – at Cal Poly, 6:05 p.m.
    Oct. 11 – Missouri S&T (home), 2 p.m.
    Nov. 1 – at North Greenville (S.C.), 11 a.m.
    Nov. 8 – Southern Oregon (home), 2 p.m.
    Nov. 15 – at Southern Utah, 2 p.m.
    Nov. 22 – North Dakota (home), 2 p.m.

As for the Udot boys, hows the baseball team doing this year?

Priced an umbrella with State Farm today. $227 for $1 million. That's a pretty good price for some piece of mind. And the yellow tape goes up this week to keep the neighbor ATVs off my new dirt (arriving Thursday) and, potentially, grass that will be planted next week once the sprinkler system goes in.

Back to the topic: I have heard the USD and Central Florida rumor as well. That's a good get for them. UCF is an up-and-coming program with a new stadium.

We used to get yelled at for playing football in a vacant lot by people like you "old geezers".
It was a pain in the rear having to look out for water shut off valves and dodging trees.

Then the school district was nice enough to clear some land and we had an area the size of three football fields to kill each other on.

Geez. All you "grumpy old men" out there. My ten, six, and yes soon to be four year olds are all begging in those incessant "Can you buy us a" voices for ATV's. Of course to be driven around the yard. Of which I say in reply I dont want a track in my yard and the neighbors dont want to hear those things. Moms on their side, the County Sheriff, who lives across the street doesnt care. What to do.

Neighbors and their kids can be annoying. I have a youngster that likes to use the slant in my driveway for his Evil Kenevil tricks, plus Dad is the big encourager with dirt bikes that are not exactly free, but never mind the mortgage payments, you have to live for now. As dad and son bond over Evil Kenevil stunts in the vacant addition near my property, you hope nothing bad happens. I do have home owners insurance, but am not about to find out if it works with a claim. Just keep telling them to keep off your property and eventually they will. You do have that right do you not JackJD? I am probably more Grampa Simpson than most of you, but hang on your time is coming. LOL.

Getting back to Smack, the Coyote Board seems to have a little life the past few days. Rumor has it that Central Florida is on their schedule for 2010. I know Central Florida was in a bowl this past year, but wonder how much money will Udot garner from that game.

Also there is a North Greenville on a future schedule, a D2 school in South Carolina. More exposure for recruiting I suppose. Southeastern USA has to be a place for picking up good recruits, but maybe not any better than say Arizonia. Each recruit stands on his own reputation.

In spite of what we seem to hear or read, the legal system is functioning quite well and while not perfect, it probably functions at a higher level than all other human-run institutions.

Sounds like a stout fence may be in order.

But what really annoys me is the HUMONGOUS playground fortress (the one that includes the integral swingset, slide, climbing wall, etc.) that they decided to build less than ten feet from the fence between their back yard and ours--giving their annoying little rugrats a commanding view over the fence at my back yard.

I don't mind so much fishing the toys that the brats keep tossing into my pool. It's the "hey neighbor!" call from the crumb-crunchers, said in the insistent, impossible-to-ignore way that only an eight-year-old can master, which really torques me off.
I've got one of those "fotresses". Doesn't provide my kids with any better view of the neighborhood than we had before. I have a screened in porch on the upper level of my walk out style range home that pretty much allows me to see all of my neighbors homes and yards regardless of the size of the fences. They playset is of course a Rainbow straight out of Brookings. The deck is 72" of the ground. I've got a Jackrabbit flag flying from the side of it. Its great, if you ask me, my kids, and the neighborhood kids. The Udot fans would like the flag to go. I'm planning to add a second one!
