That would be a no. I'm too old for that. The username comes from my football days at SDSU. When they'd throw me the ball I'd Catch 'Em All.

    Sorry for the thread drift.
I updated my signature for the first time in six years.

If he doesn't want to represent South Dakota's Team then to heck with him. Onward and upward. To quote Dan Barriero (for those that listen to KFAN out of the Twin Cities) - "We don't need you!"
Wow, CEA! We must have caught you in an off mood! This is not like you!

The fact is I don't think there is one kid that has gone DI elsewhere and come back. At least I can't think of one. And I don't think Cody will be the first. But I don't have the same crystal ball as you. After all, I am a Lions fan!

I don't know, first of all Larson isn't Miller, and Larson is part of a stacked class and arguably the lowest of the recruits at his position. Plus he has off the court problems. If their was one guy who would come back to SoDak. It would be him.

Though I'll admit going to a Mitchell High game with my dad and uncle and them thinking he would be back at DWU within 2 years (though Munson's coaching had a lot to do with that)

Now I said it before and I'll say it again I'm surprised Donovan went after him, Larson just doesn't seem like a SEC/ACC type of big man. More of the Big 10/Big 12 type.

Rep points just for not dragging your periods. For some reason your post seemed more well-thought out.

Billy Donovan and all the other major D1 coaches that were after Larson seem to know what they are doing. I'd say they think he can play at that level.

Would Steve Smith fall into that category? Started his career at Creighton, finished at USD.

It's surprising what these great minds of basketball such as Donovan are thinking when they chose a Cody Larson, but it seems the Florida program is in a position to let everyone know that every recruit is expendable. Lets hope Cody senses that and adjusts accordingly and zigs and zags his way through a free education at Florida U.

This just in....Mike Miller enrolled at SDSU yesterday.......Joe Krabbenhoft also visited Augie yesterday and filled out enrollment forms and oddly enough Jared Reiner also was in Mitchell visiting the DWU campus with plans to attend class there next fall......I heard from my sisters, friend, next door neighbor that Colton Iverson is heading to Mt. Marty.......wow it now continues with Cody Larson.

In SD we eat our own.....

Yep. Forgot about Steve. Good catch! But he is the exception isn't he?

yeah and wasn't an injury the big reason he came back?

SDSU and USD going D-I, I think ends speculation that a big recruit would come back to go to one of those schools after failing at the high D-I level. Unless they went JuCo first. When you have been the go to kid since you were 10 years old you don't want to sit out a year.

Anyone who had any hope that he would up at SDSU are obvious fools. FOOLS I SAY! Stu told me so. Read his dumb@ss blog entry to read in short form how crazy he really is. What is really sad is I imagine he wrote the blog entry as a form of "F-U" to all who were bad mouthing Larson when he was suspended. He wrote it in an attempt to stick up for the kid. When in reality, he only caused anyone who was on the fence to probably decide "now I'm really rooting for this kid to fail". What a moron. Mike: Please have Paul call Stu and tell him "thanks for the support but we got this one covered." Getting signed by Florida is vindication enough.

A couple asides from his blog entry by the way. He calls SDSU fans "fools" for thinking Larson may end up there. He then goes on to say that ALL of SD was writing him off and will continue to hope Larson fails. In reality, if you read the SDSU threads about Larson, most of the people on here are only wishing him well. And most were HOPING he would end up at SDSU because they recognized how talented he is. Not sure why Stu read that as a negative.

He also takes a not-so-thinly-veiled shot at my uncle, Bob, who used to coach at Rosie. That is a history that has gone way back. Bob hasn't coached for an entire year and had NOTHING to do with Larson's suspension. Funny how Stu can't let those sorts of petty feuds go, though. I feel bad for Stu, really. I think everyone probably knows someone like him. I know a ton of lawyers like him who I run in to in my professional life. Pompous blowhard @sshats who are SO sure they are right about everything and SO intent on proving their correctness to everyone that they only end up looking like a sad loser rallying against made-up detractors. What a miserable existence.

I made a lot of dumb decisions when I was in high school, college and after college. Probably will continue to make some in the future. I learned from most of my past dumb decisions. I hope Larson can as well. Sometimes getting away and getting out from under the local BS is really liberating. He may blossom into a heck of a player and a heck of a person all the way down in Florida. I hope so for him.

I never like anything Stu writes. He always has to put his personal opinion in there, even if it's not an opinion piece. Thank goodness for Terry V. balancing things out, otherwise the Argus Leader sports department would be completely irrelevant. Stu should start his own professional gossip column or something!

So on the one hand we're fools for thinking we could land a recruit like Larson, on the other we are fools for not getting more recruits like Larson. Who's the real fool here?

I'm not really sure why Stuey even included a mention of SDSU in his blog. Clearly Larson wasn't even considering State, and to address message board speculation on the Argus Leader website only legitimizes message boards, IMO.

So he can't stand message board fools (and that is how he feels about us if you ever hear him on the radio or watch the AL sports web), but obviously reads them enough to know what people are talking about. Is that a classic example of insecurity or what?

What's more, Larson is 18, no? Why haven't we heard specifics about what exactly happened at Roosevelt that led to his suspension, Stu? That would be a real story that would undoubtedly sell newspapers. And one that may have impacted interest form major programs? Do you actually like this kid, and has that possibly clouded your perceptions and reporting?

I've said it before that Mr. Larson seems like a person without much direction or anchor in his life. Not much different than a lot of other 18 year olds. Only problem is he is not going to live like the typical college freshman, and will have more opportunity to screw up. Not a great combination for someone trying to turn their life in a positive direction. I sincerely hope he proves me wrong and can turn the corner and complete his college coursework college playing career in a spectacular manner.

This subject is becoming very boring and tiresome. Contrary to CadSev's view point of eating our own, some of could care less about the career of Cody Larson. Good points none the less and rep pts given.
