[QUOTE=mango4;188602] and said they should add an 11AAA class because it is tough for the smaller 11AA schools to compete with the Sioux Falls schools

okay man...honestly...yeah the sioux falls schools are hard to beat. thats because they are a bigger city with bigger kids who like to work hard. that doesn't mean they should create a whole new class for the schools that can't beat the sufu teams. Yes I was upset when we(Mitchell high) lost I will be every time to come that we do lose to them..but I just don't think it's an issue where a new class should be created. that just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. and besides, i like the competition

I never said that, I'm just relaying what a coach said.

I think the leagues are already watered down as it is, there isn't a reason for them to create another class.

Here is a thread that the 11AAA was being talked about http://sdsufans.com/board/showthread...-Classes-11AAA

[QUOTE=mango4;188602]Which ESD schools are whining? They all know the Sioux Falls teams are going to be the best and it's going to be an uphill battle for them. Is it just fans whining or have you actually heard a coach/administrator from an ESD school complain about the ESD schools?QUOTE]
The biggest stated concern for the smaller 11AA schools is a safety issue. The larger schools have enough talented players, that they aren't forced to play both ways, the smaller schools they play against have to in order to be competitive. It's not 1 or 2 athletes for some of these schools, but typically almost the entire offense & defensive lines. The enrollment gap between the largest schools and smallest schools in 11AA has been widening for quite some time.

I'm not sure that folks for Madison, etc. would be very happy if Pierre, Huron, or Brookings was dropped down into their division.

Originally i think that was possibly going to happen but now i think it would be the top 8 in 11AAA and the next 8 in 11AA. If Ogorman wants to petition to move up, which i think they would, then Brandon would move down to 11AA.

And what a complete joke that would be.

Seriously, it's good to have your kids lose games too. You may even learn more that way becuase guess what.....that's how life is going to be.

Re: South Dakota High School Football Championships

The thought of another class of football in SD makes me want to puke. Although I'm afraid the SDHSAA along with the football coaches/ADs in the state will make it happen. The "poor me, I can't win so lets make it easier on me" mentality runs rampant in this state. The same mentality that existed when SDSU went D-I and a large majority of this state thought we were crazy!

I do think open enrollment has made the SF schools more dominate, it seems that they almost have an informal draft of individual players, and this has set the SF schools above in the ESD schools. The extra class at 11AAA, is going to make it difficult to even put a schedule together. Then on the other end, there are too many 9 man classes. I dont know the answers.

Re: South Dakota High School Football Championships

If second 11 man class was added including the 8 largest schools it would include Aberdeen Cantral and Watertown (sse avg daily enrollment below. I would bet those two schools wouldn't want to be in a different class than the rest of the ESD.

Perhaps the SDSHAA should make the big schools play with on hand tied ehind their back? Perhaps a rule that requires schools over 1000 avg daily enrollment to play a seniors only varsity squad?

Re: South Dakota High School Football Championships

I knew I read somewhere where it would be something like that, with O'G petitioning to move up.

And here is where I read it, from the man himself Stu.

I know he didn't suggest it, but whoever did, I do agree with it. Consolidate into two 9-man divisions with some of the higher ups in 9-AA being forced up to 11B. I don't think that it is a bad plan. I don't know if South Dakota needs that many classes, but keeps the current six and decreases the 9-man division. I only see the disparity between the Sioux Falls schools and the rest of the current 11AA getting bigger. This would seem to appease those who are from the smaller 11AA schools. There is a .pdf link on the SDHSAA for this proposal as well.

So if there is no concensus can the change pass through? Can Watertown block the change?
