    Re: ORU gdt

Most of the team's turnovers were unforced.

I have to wonder if Ketty is 100% Pretty sure she received a concussion from the face plant in the Oakland game. She just didn't look like herself today.

Box score has attendance at 1,098. From TV's description that's some mighty creative math.

I think the women ought to be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves for the way they played today.

Whats the record for number of turnovers in a game....they had to have been approaching it.

I don't remember what ORU's record was last year, I assume they were a 2 or 3 seed in the tournament, but dang...they got A LOT better in a year.

Ifthey stay healthy, I'd be shocked and amazed if ORU doesn't win the tournament this year.

We take care of the ball , we win.We don't, we lose.We are a poor ball handling team against any kind of pressure at all, ORU evidently knows this and has got our number.
Stats,we had 33 TO'S to thier 22.We had 4 steals to thier 21.We shot the ball 58 times, they took 72 shots. We got out rebounded 40 to 36, but we let them have 16 offensive (second chance) rebounds to our 9.We just never gave ourselves much of a chance to win.If we don't learn to take care of the ball, i don't care how many times we play them, the outcome will alway's be the same.I'm somewhat encouraged that we stay within about ten points of them regardless of how poorly we play.Which is why I think that if we take care of the ball , we can definately win against this team.Don't try so hard to make the spectacular play, just concentrate on getting a shot off each posession. They got off 14 more shots shooting about 45% from the field is 6 more buckets, about 12 pts....we lost by 11.

...don't kid yourself by looking at the final score. The first meeting ORU won by 9 and the second meeting by 11, but both games were around 20 pt deficits right up to the last couple minutes, a.k.a garbage time

I beginning to think AJ has the biggest test of his coaching career and it seems to be about these two little ORU guards who seem to raise havoc with our generally fine tuned offense. I have a ton of respect for AJ, but it may take a while to find a way to turn the tables on Coach Finkbeiner and his guards. Maybe he will have them figured out by March, if not well it becomes a next year problem.

I have to take my hat off to the little ladies from ORU, they seem to have our goat and know how to make a very good team look embarrasingly bad.

Considering our season long turnover problems,fine-tuned is not a term I would use to describe our offense for most of this season.

I just wonder how many arms & hands were slapped in thier 21 steals.Don't see the "reaching in " fouls called much anymore.
So , my therory is, if they can get by with it, we should reach in more against them.Force the ref's to call it or let it go for both teams?Maybe they were just that quick with thier hands & got all ball.
It's hard to change a perception that's implanted in someones mind that ORU is a great ball stealing team, so i'm sure some fouls were called steals merly by perception in the ref's mind.Anyway, bottom line is ,we have to get better ball handling against ORU & deal with thier pressure.

We have proven this year that we don't do well against speed and quickness and ORU has that. Maybe some were fouls, maybe they weren't. But the fact is that we just don't respond well to the opposition's speed.

How about putting each player in a room with a chicken & try & have them catch it to improve hand speed, foot speed & quickness, like the old "Rocky" movie.

ORU's a team that looks for the steal all the time, they alway's slap at the ball all game long, so against a team that gets a little lackadaisical, careless or sloppy with the ball or passes, they make you pay the price....we have twice now.

Other than Muchienhern we have the same guards we had last year. Don't understand all the turnovers.

Maybe we need to use the big's in the middle of the floor to help us get the ball up court. Both Maria and Jenn are athletic enough to give us some help.

Guess what folks? We will get another shot at them in Sioux Falls. AJ will have them prepared. I still like our chances of winning the Summit Tournament.

The problem with this is that they are not only quicker when they are on defense, but on offense also. So if we try to do what they do, it is a longer reach, our player is leaning more and it looks more like a foul. In both games, they got to the point where they were running away from us until they put it in cruise to run out the clock. I think if we see them again, there will be a different strategy on how the game is approached.

We have to take care of business & beat the teams in the rest of the Summit schedule, and get the #2 seed ( if ORU wins out the rest of the way) and earn another shot at ORU for all the marbles, but this time we send 'em home for the season. That might be a little easier in front of 10,000 screaming fans in the Arena. This second game, I thought we'd at least of shut down Pyle underneath the basket at least, they can't all be quicker than we are.Are the NDSU players quicker than us?How about IPFW?Both these teams beat ORU,why can't we?I don't think it's all how the players match up,it's got to be strategy too.Maybe they play a lot harder against us,as we have dominated the conference for some time now.Maybe it's a combination of them being fortunate enough to have two very good games against us, while at the same time we self destruct & make it easier for them. They've got to be pretty confident in however they're beating us, but,we've still got time to figure it all out.
