    Re: NDSU Game Thread

The students showed their love for Vogel by chanting one of their many "thank you Megan" cheers, and one male student even asked Vogel for a date while she was waiting to enter the game.
    Was that you Bluehat?

      Re: NDSU Game Thread

Nah, I was picking on #14 and #22 for most of the night for wearing pink sports bras and not being color coordinated with the rest of the team... I think they forgot the memo about what color they should be wearing. I think one of them times Vogel was at the scorer's table and I was making a comment to one of their players and Vogel smiled.

However I should mention, Vogel got a copy of the Megan Vogel Rabbit Den Reader.

Didn't mention earlier, but I thought the students were great last night as well.

I saw a student get taken out by UPD, not sure what for. Wouldn't see that at other "local" schools

For some reason the UPD feels its nescessary to harass student fans. They should stay out of the crowd and remain on the floor to protect the players. I don't know what the situation was, but oink oink I hate the UPD.

They have harassed me about once a month for the behavior of other students. I don't think I have that much power over the students, but you know. I'm sure one of the NDSU fans complained about the student in question and the cop decided he needed to show some power and escort the student out of the stands.

Yeah, I had a UPD student officer stand next to me for several minutes during the early minutes of the second half. My friends next to me decided that we needed protection since we were in the row above the Bison section.....

The last few years we were D-2 me and my buddies got plenty of warnings and evil looks from the old guy in the deputy sheriffs hat that stood behind the scorers table. of course where ever we were he always seemed to find a place right in front of us. He use to tell us to be quiet and shut up all the time. I dont think he was much of a basketball fan.

Hey Billy Goat as we called him was a nice guy...Not too confrontational just would warn us to tone it down, unlike the power tripping ego manics this year.

This is question is a bit of curiosity. Why hasn't Kratovil been playing more the last few games? It looked like she was playing well before but lately has been gettting fewer minutes. Any reason for that or just getting more time for other players or what? We were up big in this game yet she only came in towards the end, did she have any minor injuries?

Not sure why she isn't playing much. Have heard various reasons why. Not exactly sure the official reason why. But there has been various complaints about playing time throughout the year by a few other players. Although my feeling is it has to deal with how the players perform in practice.

Typically championship level teams, like our women's team shorten their bench toward the end of the season and go with who plays together the best and who is playing well at that time. As good as our women's team is some good players aren't going to get to play as much as they like. Hopefully these ladies who don't as much playing time as they would like stick with it, work hard in the off season and come back next fall competing for more playing time.

It's hard to get the playing time issue balanced when you have a very deep bench. I know that A.J. doesn't really like to redshirt players, but it might have to become a consideration when we have 15 scholarship players (starting next season) plus a walk-on or two on the roster. I hope that this issue doesn't become too much of a problem for a lot of players......after all, they knew that A.J's style is about the team concept.

Exactly, one of the hardest things for talented high school players to do is accept a role at the next level. Just because you were the star of your high school team, district, region, state does not mean you are the star on a college basketball team. I also agree with the shortened bench. 8 players in a regular rotation is about ideal. Having up to 10 is necessary when games are back-to-back. Its hard to find a flow and consistency when players are in and out. I have no idea if any of this applies to any of the players this year but I know AJ has lost a couple of girls who couldn't accept their role on the TEAM. Basketball is all about the TEAM.
