How friggin' cool is that. Great win by the Jacks!
Sad to say that this is probably the last year we'll see quality non-conference opponents in Frost for the women. AJ teams are just too good this early in the transition.
Go Jacks!

If we make the WNIT, and do reasonable, you think we won't get other schools here to play a tough team? I'd think that we'd see more of the MoValley & Big 10 or 12 come up on a home/home. Especially if we're putting 3-4K in the stands.
Just got home from the game and it was fun to watch. We had the bad streak for awhile in the second half but wow, our defense is just stellar. They forced 18 turnovers in the first half. Lots of students there for who it was their first bball game of the year. Games like that should help with attendance in future games. We beat #36 MTSO and now #19 USC and now on to playing SMSU on Sunday. This should give them some good momentum heading into the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas.
WOW, just back from the game and what an atmosphere in Frost Arena!!!! That was just like old times only better!!! Megan Vogel stepped up and played a whale of a game!!! Credit the whole team for handling USC's pressure and keeping the lead the whole game!!! Sorry if you missed it, it was a night to remember in Frost!!!!
"The 19-ranked USC women's basketball team got stuck in a hole it couldn't climb out of in a cold-shooting night at South Dakota State, suffering a 67-63 loss after a second-half comeback fell short. USC's Shay Murphy led all players with 23 points and 14 rebounds on the night, and Chloe Kerr added 15 points in front of a boisterous South Dakota crowd. South Dakota State only hit 12 shots from the floor -- seven of which were threes -- but the rest came from the free-throw line. The Jackrabbits wsere led in scoring by Megan Vogel's 22 points, which included a solid 15 free throws, and two other SDSU players scored in double figures in the game. USC moves to 1-1 on the year with the loss, while South Dakota State improves to 2-0."
Nice job crowd, particularly the students. Programs like USC do not often play in front of crowds much larger than 1500 to 2000.
I can't wait to read some of the USC coach's post-game comments on the game. Last year, when Nebraska hosted the Jackrabbit women in their season opener (they had won the prior 24 season openers in a row!), the Nebraska coach had some great comments after the Jacks schooled her team, including one in which she said (paraphrasing) that she's been trying to get her team to play like SDSU plays.
South Dakota State upsets foul-plagued Women of Troy
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Megan Vogel scored 22 points and South Dakota State forced 25 turnovers and beat Southern California (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP) 67-63 Friday.
The Jackrabbits (2-0) were supposed to be a convenient stop for the Women of Troy on their way to Sunday's matchup with No. 6 Ohio State. However, South Dakota State (2-0) forged a 15-point lead and held off a furious rally down the stretch.
Jennifer Warkenthien scored 13 points and Andrea Verdegan added 10 as the Jackrabbits posted their first win over a ranked team in three tries since moving to NCAA Division I. They are 27-16 against Division I opponents since moving up at the start of the 2004-05 season. . . . (read more)
