    Re: USC Game

Let's just say besides the Hobo Day game and maybe the game tomorrow... That was one of the most exciting, thrilling, emotional games i've ever seen by SDSU and even in my life... to be there with all the fans and seeing Frost Arena filled with people was exciting in itself.... What a tremendous win for our team.... I would say any visiting team... no matter when in the future should be afraid to enter the rabbits nest against the Girls BBall Team!!!!

Now hopefully our boys can finish out the weekend strong and make this a huge, historical year for US!!!

This game was crazy fun to watch, i'm still at a loss of words to describe what this huge win means for SDSU! I managed not to lose my voice tonight and will put it to good use tomorow night in fargo!

        Re: USC Game

What an exciting win for South Dakota State, and what a great accomplishment for us. Big props to all of the fans tonight, it was rocking at Frost. I attended the press conference and I just have to say what a class act the USC coach is. He had nothing but extremely respectful and good things to say about our program and fans. He even went as far as to say that this was a good loss for them and not a bad one as many across the country would think and he repeatedly commented on our "hostile crowd." Way to go girls and way to go fans. Tonight was one of my most memmorable nights as a Jackrabbit. Now lets take out the Bison tomarrow night. ;D

My hostile crowd voice is croaky tonight. I plan to have it back by Sunday.

One little touch I noticed tonight was provided by the SDSU Pep Band. Walking out of Frost Arena after the game, I realized that the Pep Band was playing Fleetwood Mac's 'Tusk.'

The original recording of that song by Fleetwood Mac featured the USC Marching Band performing the song in, if I recall correctly, Dodger Stadium.

Nice touch by the band, I thought. I laughed all the way out to the car.

I'm still riding the high from that game. To all the fans the came out and supported the Jacks, Thank you. This brought back memories of NCC games not involving animals tossed on to the court. Being in the press conference was cool. The officiating was questionable at times but the girls came out to play. Vogel lead the girls home to victory and now stands 534 points out of first place. We got a team that could shock the nation and knock off a lot of decent school this year before a WNIT spot comes calling. I don't know how much of my voice will be left tomorrow night at the other big game but what ever is left will most likely be lost by Sunday afternoon.

Go Big! Go Blue! Go JACKS!

              Re: USC Game

Whoever is in charge of hiring refs. Please don't ever hire NCC officials to do a big game like this again!!

Accoring to Terry's blog on the Argus, two of the three officials were from the NCC. That explains alot as there were many times during the game that they looked like they were in over their heads. I was very dissapointed in the way the game was called and was embarrassed that it happened when a team like USC was here.

Missed calls, inconsistent calls, late calls, make-up calls, etc., this game had it all. When you go to a game you know the refs are good when you don't notice them. There were 60 fouls and 70 free throw attempts in this game, the refs were thoroughly noticed.

Was just checking out gojacks.com for their story on the game and noticed they had some links to audio clips from players and coaches from the game at the bottom of the page.

WOW! What a fun win for the ladies. Reminded me a lot of the atmosphere down at St. Joes in 03. Spoke to Melissa Pater after the game. Part of her wanted to be on the floor last night, but she also said it was their turn now. I agree the USC coach was very complimentary. Our Back of the Bus group had a meet the players and parents get together after the game. I am going to repeat something here, but what a great group of players we have and their families. This is going to be a fun season. I'll just bet the other teams in the Mid-Con will notice this too.

Not much in the Times on the game, pretty late though.

What a huge night for SDSU athletics!

You could feel the electricity in Frost last night and that has been missing for a while. What an effort from the entire team. It all starts with Megan and her intensity and leadership which carries down to the entire team. SDSU dominated that game from the word go. They built a lead to 15 points and pretty much cruised from there. USC got within 5 late but the game was in hand. The final was a 4 point win but there was no question which team took it to the other!

The USC players have to be scratching there heads this morning (along with putting ice on bruises) thinking about how hard our team played! I have to echo the comments from their coach, he was a real class act. Scotty replayed the post game interviews this morning.

That is one giant leap towards making the Women's NIT at the end of the year!

The other thing has been going through my mind is that this is the type of contest that we can look forward to in the future in D-1! I still am kind of like "Is this really happening, USC in Frost Arena?" Very cool stuff!

                      Congratulations ladies!

I noticed that also filbert. I commented about it in the section I was in and a few people looked at me like I was a little crazy (including my wife). I got a good giggle about it too.

That was fun, the crowd was electric. During the last five minutes of the game you could just see it in Vogel's eyes. She was just so intense and focused. It was awesome.

Is it just me, but it sure looked like there were a lot more people in there than that! The student side was full to the top and it looked like all of the blue seats were pretty full as well.

My money was on somewhere between 4,500-5,000 people.

For us 3677 in attendance, we sounded like a whole lot more! I'm still hoarse!

I just want to congratulate the girls on the big win.  Like I stated in a prior post, I had to turn off the game at half time to take my wife out to dinner and a movie.  The restraunt had a bar with ESPN on it, I had to excuse myself 3 times to use the men's room, while I cruised past the TV to watch the scores scroll along the bottom.  I told her that the door was locked and I had to go back. ;D ;D ;D

I have always believed that the SDSU women's team could compete against 90% of all D-1 schools and the win over USC has confirmed that.  I can't think of one embarrassing loss by the girls since we moved to D-1, they have been competative in every game.  The women's basketball program is ahead of all the other SDSU teams in transitioning to D-1.  The football team is starting to make some noise and I feel that the men's basketball team has some good players on it, but they are very young.  Having the Mid-Con conference will really help the all teams in recruiting, but also scheduling.  Getting into the WNIT is a realistic goal and beating the Women of Troy will really help their cause.

I am now going to root for USC against Ohio St. on Sunday.  If USC were to win, it would really help out SDSU's RPI and Strength of Schedule.

                                Go State!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)
