    Re: Ipfw gdt

I think the senior leadership is comming through,Rotert has been instrumental in this winning streak.Macie and Shuttloffel both came through when the chips were down against IPFW.Those pressure packed free throws to extend the lead from 1 to 3 were huge!

I hope the SF "arena magic" comes through for us again.Nothing like 6-7000 screaming fans to give you a boost when you need it.Never under estimate the "intimidation " factor for all those teams without "jackrabbits" in their name. Will they try to take the crowd out of the game ,yes, but if SDSU starts getting on a roll, better bring earplugs.

This years Jackrabbit team is the most vulnerable we have seen in the DI era. We could lose in the first round of the tourney and that really was never a concern before.

On the flip side, the injuries and current performance of this team make it much more possible for SDSU to pull an upset or 2 and return to the big dance. I wasn't saying that 5 weeks ago.
Because everyone likes to compare our teams to the 08-09 team, we almost didn't have the "home court advantage" that year as we had to make a monumental comeback to win the Summit tournament that year.

The comeback may have been fueled by the "homecourt advantage". I don't think either Coach Nagy or Coach Johnston put much weight on it. Take a look at our conference records at home versus road this year.

I agree that this team is by far the most vulnerable. Two years ago, Oakland was a slight threat but SDSU should have won it. Last year, ORU and SDSU were head on shoulders above everybody else. This year, there are a few teams that could win the tourney.

I always thought that SDSU was in it. They haven't played well but even playing bad, they lost in OT to the teams that were 2nd and 3rd in the conference. Those games were at home but so it the conference tourney. ORU was the team that I thought SDSU would lose to. Now that they lost their 2nd best player, it opens things up.

I like coach Paul. I think he still respects SDSU but he knows that SDSU doesn't scare teams like 2 years ago. When they won at Frost, he realized that his team could compete with SDSU. You don't want a team to start thinking they can do something because they can get much more dangerous.
I think he has a good point about the switching on screens. When SDSU had Boever, Oistad and Warkenthein; they wouldn't switch on EVERY screen with the guards. The guards switched and the post players switched but they didn't mix. Now you have posts playing guards and guards playing posts. I think more teams should try to take advantage of that.

We've lost in the NCAA tourney because we couldn't guard a fast guard and I don't think that has changed. The only thing is a couple years ago the teams in the Summit didn't have that type of player and now they are getting closer.

Our list of why the game was close could be long too, but I guarantee SDSU doesn't use excuses.
He says he wants us in the tournament. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR COACH PAUL!!!!!!! I wouldn't mind playing them again, only this time lets get a varsity officiating crew that won't take every single one of our post players out of the game. Ooops, I sound like Coach Paul.

I truly hope the Jacks gets a chance to see this video.

I have now watched the video 3 times. I have to bite my tongue a little, but here goes...There is no coach in the world that I respect less than Coach Paul at this moment. He clearly has a chip on his shoulder, among other things. Let me just say this...I want to play IPFW in SF so bad I can taste it. If he thinks his team would walk into the Sioux Falls Arena and take it to us, well...all I can say is BRING IT!

That guy is a complete d-bag. Maybe that's harsh but he is very arrogant while giving zero credit to the Jacks. Someone has to remind this guy that they lost AT HOME to the Jacks.

I would like nothing more than for SDSU to play this team in the championship. There would be fireworks if "South" won!

Notice (from the post-game video) that the players are referring to SDSU as "South" as well.... They also called SDSU "South" on the post game video that was on their web site after their game with NDSU on Saturday night...

I should add that it doesn't bother me that they're referring to SDSU as "South". I don't think it's something to really worry about and feel disrespected. It could be just a nickname that happend to stick. However, the coach's general attitude towards everything and all the complaining made me hate the IPFW women. I'm joining Filbert.

If SDSU is now "South", so be it. Might as well embrace it.

"Go South Go! Go South Go!"

*I think I counted six "South" references in the video and he had eight earlier when IPFW played "South" in South's gym. That makes 14 "South" references for the year. I will be keeping track.*
