  • Re: WNIT

JJ is right...the bid is a guarantee of money, not dependent upon how many tickets are sold. Last year, Kansas State hosted all the way to the WNIT championship, and I believe they guaranteed $60,000 -- at least for the last game. Not sure what our guarantee was, but I know our athletic department ranks with the best and that they will take hosting the games seriously to the best of their financial ability. Rock on JACKS!!!!!

I could see putting up those dollars at the end, but SDSU needs to come ahead as well. It was reported, by the media I believe, that there are rules in place to keep the big pockets from sealing up the host games with huge bids.

Not that we should look any further then Indiana-Iota but in other WNIT action on our side of the bracket Wyoming is leading Missouri 38-32

I talked to a couple of the players and that's when they said it was.

Thursday night seems to be the popular choice right now. I should be there regardless. Great atmosphere last night. Looking forward to the next game.

To answer the bid question, I think it went something like this:

There was a minimum amount setforth by the NIT to even have a shot at bidding. When the NIT accepts a bid, they get ALL of it. Every penny. If the host institution makes more money on ticket sales than what was originally bid, I believe they get that too. The only way a host institution makes money is off of concession and program sales. The NIT has a policy of at least a $1.00 raise on all tickets for the first two rounds.

That's why we may well host out IMHO at least up to the end. Very few programs would have been able to bid all the rounds at the level the JACKS can. Thanks, SDSU fans!!!!!!! (I think the bids for all rounds must be submitted ahead of the tournament -- but not sure about that.)

Is the WNIT at a host site through the championship game or is the championship game at a pre-determined location?
