    Re: Nebraska

It doesn't look like SDSU is going to have any tickets left over for the general public to buy.

I called the WSU ticket department and it didn't sound like they would have many left over either. I did get on a list and will be put in a lottery if any come available...should know sometime today.

I also called Western Kentucky. The lady there was very nice and really wanted to sell me some tickets. She asked me if I was an alum or student of WKU and I was honest and told her no. She then talked with her supervisor to see if she could sell me tickets. She told me no but if I could some connection to WKU (a friend, relative, etc) she would be more than happy to sell me tickets.

So, if you want tickets your best bet is to call WKU and tell them you're a Hilltopper fan or have a cousin/brother/son that attends the school and they'll sell to you. Contact them at 1-800-5-BIG-RED or 1-270-745-5222.

Tickets are $32 for the all session pass.

      Re: Nebraska

Well according to Terry's blog, SDSU will be selling a limited number of volleyball tickets today (Tuesday) at 1 PM. Here is the link

      http://blogs.argusleadermedia.com/sports/category/sdsu/

If you want any chance at a ticket, this may be it. Now if SDSU was able to beat Nebraska, I'm sure you could get some cheap tickets from Nebraska fans for Saturdays venue.

      Go State!!!

NU Volleyball: Huskers earn No. 2 overall seed
        BY CHAD PURCELL
        WORLD-HERALD BUREAU

LINCOLN - This is the moment Nebraska's volleyball players have been knocking themselves out for since the calendar first flipped to 2007.

Nebraska's Maggie Griffin, left, and Tracy Stalls join their teammates as the No. 2 overall seed for the NCAA tournament.Sure, it was going to be great to play those huge nonconference matches against UCLA and Penn State at Qwest Center Omaha. Of course, it was going to be critical to take care of business against the Big 12.

But almost immediately after the Huskers won last year's national championship, there really was only one question that mattered for the '07 season: Could Nebraska do it again?

The Huskers finally can start formulating their answer on Friday, when they take on South Dakota State in Lincoln to open the NCAA tournament. Nebraska learned on Sunday night that it will be the No. 2 overall seed for the postseason, and a pair of victories this weekend would send the Huskers to the Madison, Wis., regional for a potential showdown against host Wisconsin, the tournament's No. 7 seed.

"For this year's team, they've done a great job of managing our season up to this point - but really for them, this is what it's all about," said NU coach John Cook. "I think they're excited. They've worked extremely hard since January for the opportunity, and I think they're going to feel very confident and go into this tournament expecting to play great."

And for the fourth straight year, the 27-1 Huskers get to open the postseason playing inside their cozy Coliseum.

Friday's other first-round match in Lincoln will feature Missouri Valley Conference regular-season champion Wichita State taking on Western Kentucky, which became the first Sun Belt team to ever earn an at-large NCAA bid.

South Dakota State is a former NCAA Division II program that used to compete in the North Central Conference. The 25-10 Jackrabbits, who began playing Division I volleyball in 2004, locked up their first trip to the NCAAs by winning the Summit League's automatic invitation........

        Friday's matches: Western Kentucky (27-8) vs. Wichita State (26-5), 4:30 p.m.; South Dakota State (25-10) vs. Nebraska (27-1), 7 p.m.

        Saturday's match: Friday's winners, 5 p.m.

Another article, this one about the Jacks.

NU Volleyball: S.D. State eager for shot at Huskers
          BY CHAD PURCELL
          WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

LINCOLN — After he took over the South Dakota State volleyball program in 2001, Andrew Palileo immediately became a frequent visitor to the Cornhusker State.

That was back in the days when the Jackrabbits played in the North Central Conference and SDSU still was a league rival of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. And Palileo has good reason to recall his battles against the Mavericks, considering he managed to win all six matches he coached against UNO.

"Yeah," Palileo said Monday, "but this is going to be just a little bit different."

For certain, nobody has to tell Palileo that his club is in for a colossal challenge this weekend, when the Jackrabbits make their Division I NCAA tournament debut playing No. 2 Nebraska in Lincoln.

Even before the postseason pairings were announced Sunday, Palileo was sure his team would be coming to the Coliseum. It made sense geographically, it seemed like a likely matchup based on the RPI, and it's an assignment the coach said his players will savor.

"It's a trip we're very excited about," said Palileo, who led SDSU to the 2001 NCAA Division II championship match during his first year at the school. "One of the reasons we moved to Division I is that we wanted to play the best. Now we get to measure our program against one of the top teams in the country."

The Jacks only began playing a Division I schedule in 2004, and last year marked the first season that SDSU was eligible for the postseason.

Competing as an independent in 2006, Palileo's team always was a long shot to earn an at-large NCAA invitation, even as it finished 22-12. That squad included a pair of standouts with local ties in setter Kristie Klusaw, an Omaha Gross graduate, as well as outside hitter Minette Ridenour, who starred at Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln.

Both Klusaw and Ridenour have graduated, but Palileo hopes the exposure SDSU will get by playing in Lincoln will boost his efforts to recruit players out of Nebraska high schools. The Jacks' roster this year includes freshman right-side hitter Ashley Kathol from Omaha Skutt and Justine Olsen, a junior defensive specialist who played at Council Bluffs St. Albert.

South Dakota State this year locked up its spot in the NCAAs by winning the Summit League championship and the automatic berth that comes with that title. The 25-10 Jacks will be the first team to represent their school in any NCAA Division I tournament.

"For us, this first time around getting to play the defending national champions in that environment, it's a great opportunity," said Palileo, who hails from Hawaii but got his start as a prep and club coach in Minnesota. "The biggest thing for us is to make sure we try to compete. We might not be able to match Nebraska's size and physicality, but we hope we can match their heart."........

Any chance this match will be on TV? Internet?

This has the possibility of being the greatest upset in the history of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament!

According to today's Lincoln Journal Star, TV: TBD. Meaning, I think, that there's a chance, but previous articles have stated that there are no plans to televise.

Man I hope ESPNU or CSTV picks it up. Those are the only two I have any confidence in doing so.

According to this morning's Lincoln Journal Star, Nebraska Public TV will broadcast the game. No word on whether or not CSTV will pick it up, which it frequently does and which would make it accessible to more people in South Dakota.

Somebody needs to get SDPTV to work it out with NPTV to carry the feed, similar to what it did for the football game this fall between the mangy mutts and steers from uno.

I expect SDPTV will pick up the game. My nurse watches most of the VB matches on NPTV and she had heard that talk were under way. She doesn't have any connections, just heard this.
