    Re: Kentucky

Given that we're playing Kentucky, I'm actually seeing some things I like from this year's SDSU team. Kentucky will do this to a lot of teams this year.

Main concern seems to be lack of offense. Kentucky might have something to do with that though.

Offense will be the last thing to come for this "new" team. No natural shooters who can just let if fly. I suspect Gilbert and Cadwell will develop their penetration game. Holdren can take the ball to the hoop. Big guys may get frustrated but need to continue to work hard on the boards.

Lets get 50. Won't be easy.

      28-15 five minutes to play.

        Re: Kentucky

No FT for Jacks yet.  Same problem last year.  Can't get into our offense to draw fouls that result in FTs.

Another to on inbounds pass, that 13.

Could be we just don't get the calls away from home.

            Re: Kentucky

30-21 Jacks are hanging in there. Gotta love that.

Wildcats in the bonus. If we can hit some shots we can make Tubby sweat.

              Re: Kentucky

37-24 at the half. Could be much worse--UK isn't playing very well, really. Of course, neither are we.

                Re: Kentucky

Wildcats getting hot from outside. Jacks keep trying.

They are using a deeper 3-point line 20'9".

                KU 37
                SDSU 24

Offense not great for either team. Too many to's for Jacks. 11-32 from the field, no FT attempts.

We will see what adjustments Nagy and Tubby make at the half.

                  Re: Kentucky

We've been a bit shaky handling UK's full-court pressure, and they haven't really cranked it up yet, either.

Turnovers may be an issue all season long for us.

Positives are the half-court defense and our front line--seems to be able to hold their own against Kentucky.

                    Re: Kentucky

Rebounds tied at 23. Both teams shooting under 40%.

UK leads in blocks 4-1 and in steals 6-1

                      Re: Kentucky

We're seeing a more serious full-court press now from UK.

                        Re: Kentucky

51-30 now. Somehow, being down 20 to UK isn't quite as bad as being down 20 to, oh, say, UMKC like last year . . .

                          Re: Kentucky

Beran playing well but now has 3 fouls. One on a charge.

Still no FT for the Jacks.

Haven't heard Gilbert or Holdrens name much.

Another 3 for Beran. Need some guard play.

Gotta love Ben Beran, heart, courage, no fear.

Kentucky drilling the Jacks right now. Show some mercy.

51-30, 16:00 to play. Beran can't do it on his own. Frias must be way overmatched.

I'm still caught up in seeing guys with blue jerseys that say STATE on the front of them, playing Kentucky in Rupp Arena in a regular season game.

                            It's just neat.

                            53-38 now.

Jacks running up and down the court . . . ESPNU play by play guy asks his color man "Are you surprised that the Jackrabbits are running?" Color man: "No."
