So it's your contention that the Bison victory over the Jacks means that the Bison are the better team, regardless of their comparative conference and overall records, right?

If so, I'll be happy to mail that thought to 2007, when the Bison football team lost to the Bunnies, thus making the Bunnies the better team....

I'm just curious, as you called the flu an 'excuse' as opposed to admitting that the NDSU women's team is not up to scratch vs. the SDSU women.

The clear implication is that the SDSU men are not up to scratch vs. NDSU, and the flu is just an excuse.

Now the only possible basis of asserting that the Bison are better than the Jacks is the head-to-head, which, it seems to me, can be used just as effectively to assert that the '07 Jacks were better than the '07 Bison in football (in fact they weren't better, IMO, they just played that game with a lot more heart--not unlike the Bison on Friday--Sussenguth? Really? Where did he come from).

So, to take your 'troll' assertion and flip it around, I think the Bison outplayed the Jacks Friday in part because they were smarting from three very close losses, and in part because the Jacks weren't at 100% and were a bit psyched out.

But if you want to assert that the Bison won because they were the better team, be prepared to see that assertion stretched to cover as much ground as possible. Including a hundred and twenty yards of muddy turf just north of Frost Arena.

Zooropa, give the Bizon faithful a break... they know they've become clearly inferior in the D-1 era in two of the top three revenue sports and, as stated on the women's bb thread, they're losing superiority in the third. By the end of this season and with next year's recruiting class in men's BB and the maturation of this year's, that pattern will clearly be established.

wow well first off anybody that compares football to basketball is well........

here are a few facts: YOU are using the flu as an excuse, I sat 4 rows up from mid court and watched 5 of our 8 guys who had minutes, play 30 plus minutes in that game, and watched the Jacks who played 10 different players of which one seen the court for 33 mn. and at the end we totally physically dominated and "several" of your top guys were dragging a**

there was alot of big talking from some jack fans about how the depth was going to win this game and turns out a well conditioned physical team beat you, that my friend is the difference between the first and second half, conditioning oh wait FLU.....you had all your starters last night in your football comparisons we didn't

So it's your assertion that the Jacks' superior conference and overall records, their higher RPI & Sagarin ratings are meaningless, and the only thing that matters is the head-to-head.

                  AND

It's your assertion that sort of comparison only works in basketball.

Just so I know exactly how thin you're going to slice your logical contradictions......

                      And again, to clarify.

It's your assertion that the Bison gacked it big time against Oral Roberts and Southern Utah.

How else can you explain a team that 'physically dominated' the Jacks losing to teams that SDSU beat?

Of course, we must understand that all the Jacks were 100% healthy, and none of them had the flu.

                      No.

That's just an 'excuse'. Apparently not unlike the excuses that will soon appear to justify the disparate results between the Bison & Jacks vs. SUU & ORU.

Ah, an ad hominem remark instead of a comment on point.

Interesting. Will have to file that away as well.

Logically, the head to head is the deciding factor or it isn't. Or perhaps there is some magical difference that can be invoked to decide the matter in favor of the Bison.

Jack men are still a game and a half ahead of the Bizun in the Summit after playing five of first seven conference games on the road. You have six road games left, Jacks have four. It's a pretty good bet that the Jacks will finish ahead of the Bison in the Summit. And clearly the Jacks have been better in football and women's BB for three and five years, respectively. Those are just the facts.

thru your ramblings I could only begin to maybe think your pick is Records??? i'm sure you"ll spin it some way as thats your entire motive but...in Mens bball we have been better there no question

                                now you want football

Records are coming into the game:

1998 NDSU (3-4) SDSU (4-3) Bison win 35-32 in Fargo
1999 NDSU (6-1) SDSU (5-1) Bison win 28-7 in Brookings
2000 NDSU (6-0) SDSU (5-1) Bison win 21-3 in Fargo*
2001 NDSU (4-2) SDSU (3-4) Bison win 45-38 in Fargo
2002 NDSU (2-4) SDSU (3-3) Jacks win 20-25 in Brookings
2003 NDSU (3-1) SDSU (3-1) Bison win 24-0 in Fargo
2004 NDSU (4-1) SDSU (3-2) Jacks win 21-24 in Brookings
2005 NDSU (6-3) SDSU (4-4) Bison win 41-17 in Fargo
2006 NDSU (10-1) SDSU (7-3) Bison win 41-28 in Fargo
2007 NDSU (10-1) SDSU (6-4) Jacks win 29-24 in Brookings
2008 NDSU (6-4) SDSU (6-5) Jacks win 25-24 in Fargo
2009 NDSU (1-5) SDSU (4-1) Jacks win 28-13 in Brookings

                                * went to the DII playoffs beat #1 team in first round 31-17 defeated in the semi-finals

so based on your thinking that the records show the better team since 1998 we are clearly the better program having the better record 8 of the 12 years and sorry buddy but will have to pick the head to head in 03 with the 24-0 beat down to make it 9 of 12 years we have had the better team, and yes I know your WBB is better but the other to not so much

BTW mods Zoopaloopa brought FB into this
