On their home court an average to below average Summit League team (NDSU) beat an average to above average Summit League team (SDSU). That is supposed to happen - never mind the fact that it is a rivalry game too making it even more difficult to win on the road. Remember a couple times during the last few years, the best team in Bison basketball history (by a mile) had a hard time beating a poor SDSU team at Frost arena.

In conference play, the worst teams don't win on the road and rarely win at home, the bottom half win most at home and lose on the road, the top half win at home and win most on the road, and the best teams win almost everywhere. I don't know why anyone from SDSU would need excuses for the loss IN Fargo. Now if we lose to the Bison in Frost or at the tourney in Sioux Falls, that would be different.
Have to agree 100%. Winning a league rivalry game on the road is difficult...very difficult.

Tjbison, do you agree the gap between the Men's program has closed?

We can't say that the Jacks are better than the Bison this year, because they beat us head to head, but the gap has closed. I think there is no question. I for one am looking forward to the rematch.

There is no talent gap and in fact would argue the Jacks have more. That game was about who wanted it more in the second half and the Bison were clearly that team.

for this 1 year the talent gap is even steven. next year, not even close IF, and its a big IF, the 2 recruits ndsu has coming in are as good as advertised, plus ndsu's 3 freshman are older and fred coleman is back.

Because SDSU won't have -anyone- coming in next year worth mentioning....

Since some NDSU fans like to look at online recruiting websites. Here is a comparison of next year's class.

            http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recrui...71&season=2010
            SDSU:
-Jordan Dykstra #56 rated Power Forward 89 Grade
-Marcus Heemstra #45 rated Center 87 Grade
-Plus we get Chad White back

            http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recrui...49&season=2010
            NDSU:
-Trayvonn Wight #84 rated Power Forward 87 Grade
            -Marshall Bjorklund 40 Grade

The above is all true, but there is more to the NDSU side of the story. Bjorklund's grade of 40 simply means that they haven't evaluated him. He is a possible candidate for high school player of the year in Minnesota. He has played head-to-head against Dykstra in camps, etc. and from what I understand he can hold his own.

While the Jacks do get Chad White back, the Bison will get Mike Felt AND Freddy Coleman back. Taylor Braun, who is redshirting this year for NDSU, is a talented wing who was third in the Mr. Basketball voting in Oregon last year. He reminds me a lot of Mike Tveidt. Finally, the Bison still have two scholarships left for next season and they are working hard on bringing in two more good players.

The Jacks are on the rise, no question. I believe that the Bison will be good, also. I anticipate some epic battles in the coming years.

Re: Bad half? or a Sign of Things to Come?

Look at the fan boards for some of the teams we have beaten this year... wailing and gnashing of teeth about the wheels coming off the program, lack of motivation, giving up, etc. This behavior is natural and just about every one does it. I think the comments about "that's why they call 'em fanatics", are right on.

No big deal unless it continues.

Kermit thanks for the information. My point of my post was when CCDeville stated that next year's talent comparison between NDSU and SDSU is not even close.

Without a doubt! I never said anything negative about your team as whole, the main point was they were alot more sluggish in the second half than the first, SDSU won half 1 42-34 and NDSU won the second 45-25.

Those are facts and i wasn't implying, asserting, or whatever else anything

Gopher fan; ive seen marshall bjorkland in person throw up 34 pts 18 rebounds and 7 blocks in 1 game. On minnesota scores website he is currently being talked about as mr basketball minnesota (with kevin noreen from mts is going to boston college). Its going to be battles for both teams down the road, and i dont see any of you approaching tubby time here.

in regards to Nagy not calling a timeout...K-State was up 10 at half tonite against Texas and Texas came out on a 8-0 run and Frank Martin did not call a TO. After the game the reporter asked him why he did not call a time out in that stretch, he replied "We need leaders on the floor, I dont need to call a timeout everytime a team goes on a run." K-state ended up figuring it out and won the game.
