Did anyone else see the irony in running a clip from Hoosiers when we were playing a team from Indiana?

The actual team for which the movie was based on was located in Illinois rather than Indiana, but Hollywood makes their revisions in order to get us out to the movie. I think that clip has value in getting and keeping fan interest more than anything else. Were the Jags in the huddle looking up and watching or were they listening to their coach? I dont think that Ron Hunter would approve of watching the video instead of listening to him. Do you? . After the bad experience in Fargo, he might be cutting his guys some slack.

Its a great clip and great for the home crowd.

Actually no, it was based on Milan, Indiana high school team of 1954. As with any Hollywood movie though many liberties were taken from the actual history.

Hoosiers is very loosely based on the true story of Milan, Indiana. They won a state championship in the 1950's.

My bad, I thought that was one of many changes from the orginal story, but after a google it was not. My apologies to Kemo.

It is a great clip - but if Coach Hunter is cutting his kids some slack after Thursday in Fargo - he didn't get the MEMO!!!

No problem, I really didn't care either way, I just like to point out life's irony that I find amusing. I'll leave you with one more:

How awesome is it that a guy named Keith Urban is a famous Country Western singer?

If he did get the memo it went into the circular file. I personally kind of like Coach Hunter and I suspect he is not the only coach to violate the box rule at Frost. You probably was not old enough to experience games at the BARN, prior to 1973, but we had coaches that did a number of reactions to bad calls. Of course the NCC had only a partime commissioner who let the home teams hire the refs. SDSU seemed to have no one but Howard Connors, math professor from USD and bald Eddy Livingston from SF. Connors was pretty fair, but these guys probably depended on a check from SDSU and to for a second think that getting paid and wanting to ref future games did not influence their impartiallty, it did, and the visiting often got screwed badly on some calls.

From what I seen, I think by and large the Summit has some class guys for head coaches.

I like Hunter. Saul Philips is a good guy. Kampe is a lot of fun to watch and always gives SDSU credit for playing them tough. But don't get me started on Dane Fife.

So as to avoid thread drift: Wolters played a heck of a game last night.
                    Holy nutmeg!

Wolters is an absolute stud. By the time he is done he will be one of the all-time great SDSU point guards.

After reading Nate's comment following the season ending loss to IPFW - HE GETS IT! He feels like he let down the seniors by not doing more to advance as a team.

I remember early in the year, Jake Thomas at South/South (how's that gonna work anyway?) was determined to tie or break Udot's 3 point record as a freshman.

What does the T-E-A-M accomplish with that feat?

Nate understands what it is to be a great teammate.

Nothing wrong with having personal goals. Though I'm sure since Jake plays for USD he is selfish and doesn't care about how the team plays as long as he gets the record. What an ass he is.

If it's a personal goal achievable while helping the team (and not making you look like a complete ball hog), I'm all for it. Sometimes a player makes a goal and it is for personal satisfaction. Not having seen him play this year, I'm hoping it was the first example I listed.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

He shot 42% on the year

He is a heck of a shooter and a good ball player. A nice get for Coach Boots and USD.
