    Didn't feel like making a new thread, but Draft Express puts together a profile on Nate.

    Only half way through it, but this made me roll my eyes:

    Wolters isn't quick enough to consistently beat Summit League defenders off the dribble, let along NBA caliber players
    Now Nate isn't super quick, and I actually agree with the author's point that he isn't quick enough to beat NBA players off the dribble, but Jesus, he destroys Summit League players off the dribble.

      Wolters's speed/quickness is incredibly underrated, and I think it has to do with just how smooth and fluid he plays the game.

      It reminds me of watching people run the 40 yard dash for football. A runner with a jerky motion and shorter stride looks faster to the naked eye compared to a runner with long, fluid strides, even when the stop watch says they ran the same speed.

        I agree with you. Now if it said to consistantly finish the drive. Maybe they look at see he shoots a lot of FTs and think he isnt getting around people.

          Kemo is right. Wolters has no unneeded movement...everything is purposeful. He has near perfect control all the time. It's like watching liquid flowing around the court. Not water, something a little thicker but not so thick as to slow down. [Okay, we all know mercury is real dangerous stuff but I'm willing to bet many who are older than 40 years of age probably played with a little mercury as a grade school kid -- explains why so many of us are goofy. Mercury was called 'quicksilver'. That's how Wolters moves around the court.]

          I hope all opponents think he's slow. I've heard opponents also think he's 6-1...until they stand next to him and realize he's 6-4.

            If Nate is so slow and unathletic, how does he get to the basket so often against a wide variety of opponents? Seems like he can beat people to the hoop just about any time he wants. Does he always score on those drives? Not always. But he gets to the line an awful lot.

              Wanna bet he never actually saw any game tape of Nate play? When you write an article based primarily on statistics before claiming generically that he isn't quick enough, that sounds like a guy who has never watched a minute of tape on him.

                Taken out of context, the quote sounds worse than it is.

He is able to create offense thanks to his shiftiness with the ball and ability to change speeds, but how this would translate playing against more physically gifted players is still a question mark."

                This is accurate, IMO.

                Wolters is an all time great, but he does throw up 6 foot floaters A LOT. Not saying that's bad because many of them go in, but he doesn't actually get to the rim much of the time he "beats" a defender.

                The first play, he basically couldn't shake the defender to get to the rim and settled for a very nice bank shot.

                  I'm not defending the actual content of Draft Express' remarks, but I will defend against the notion they didn't watch any tape. Draft Express is not just some kid in a basement a la Bleacher Report. This is the premier website for scouting potential NBA talent and is used by scouts around the league. Draft Express has access to Synergy Sports Technology which allows their scouts to watch EVERY single play a college player is involved in throughout the entire season. The writer could essentially click an option that shows every drive that Wolters took toward the basket last season. And knowing the stuff that this specific writer has done in the past, I am sure that he went through this process (most of his other writing around the web usually includes screencaps and clips of what he is talking about). Anyway, rest assured that they watched plenty of tape on Wolters and every other prospect they scouted for this article. Conclusions may differ on what was seen when watching said tape, but there should be no doubt they consulted it.

                    I think the article is fair,as it points out many phases of his game admirably,as well as pointing out areas where he cannot match up well.This person does a very good job (NBA pro scout type) of accessing (sp?) players abilities for jumping up to the next level.I think the article writer has done this quite alot and seems to do it well.Just the idea of a player being good enough to capture the attention of writers of this caliber says alot.Go Nate.

                      I tend to agree with the Wolter assessment. As rabbit fans we see Nate puttin up amazing numbers but I think that is more a testament to his finishing skills than his quickness. Nates ability to finish with shots like the one taken during the first highlight here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpZAoooUgxA show that he doesnt necessarily blow by people but is able to make highly contested shots.
