    Re: Cal Poly - GDT

Weak effort on the defensive end... again. Rebounding, too. CP had 14 offensive rebounds. Poor effort all the way around. What's it going to take for these guys to feel some sense of urgency?
    Holy nutmeg!

I haven't looked at the stats but Moss and Sargent were the only ones shooting decent from the free throw line everyone else struggled. We hit a few more free throws and play even a little defense tonight and we get the win. Cal Poly will finish at the bottom of the Big West which is not a very strong conference. Great win at Wyoming to start the season and my hopes high now I feel like it's going to be a struggle to make the tourney just like last year.

        Re: Cal Poly - GDT

I have been asked time and again when I feel the team has turned the corner and my repsonse has been a 500 season against Div I teams. My question is when will the Nagy supporters admit his time has come and gone? How many more losing seasons will it take?

Still believe we have a group of solid young men who are trying hard and representing our university well in the classroom and in the community. We just need more Div I calibre players.
A team of 10 Griffan Callahan clones would beat this team 9 times out of 10, and he isn't the most talented player on the team. He seems like the only player who goes hard after EVERY rebound, defends tough EVERY time down the court, and isn't afraid to get a little physical and dare bigger/stronger/faster players to beat him.

IMHO, this team is the most physically talented SDSU has ever had. The just aren't playing hard enough, and they aren't mentally tough.

            Re: Cal Poly - GDT

Just a couple things from the game.

            1. Cal-Poly got too many points in the paint. With 2 minutes left in the game, CP had made 27 baskets. Only 10 shots were made from the free throw line and out.

            2. Defensive switching in the first half was horrible. SDSU made Donahue look like an All-American in the first half. CP's offensive rebounding was unacceptable.

            3. Tony played an excellent second half. AC might be losing out on more minutes (Tony didn't play like a freshman).

            4. I really, really, really, really, really, (you might understand how much) really hate the little stall at the end of the game. Run off the clock by running your normal offense. Every time I see us run the stall, the team ends up either not taking a shot or shooting a horrible shot.

            5. Horrible play by AC at the end to get an offensive foul.

            6. Liked seeing the mid-range shots.

This should have been a win for SDSU.

I would like to see him given the chance to have Dykstra and Heemstra as Sophomores.

This years freshman are playing pretty good, and if Dykstra and Heemstra are good, throw in the kid from winner (assuming he's good).

If Coach Nagy can't win with that talent, his time is up.

I give up. It seems like the team did a couple of games ago. Where is the heart? They are playing division 1 basketball like its a chore. If you don't want to bring it on the court give your scholarship back. We all know athletics could use the money. For four years I have watched just a half @$$ effort. Give the minutes to the under classmen. Let Griffan Calahan start. Something! I just can't take the "Okidokie just another loss" attitude that this team reaks of. We have more talent then we have had in years a team like Cal Poly should not stick with us. I don't know what else Nagy can do. He can't walk around and slap them all in the face before the game to pump them up. I just hope that the lackluster attitude and effort doesn't carry over to our underclassmen.

                  End of rant. Sorry

I've composed a number of posts that I've had the good sense not to press "submit" on those. Trust me, the un-posted messages have been really, really ugly.

Let's just say that I'm as angry as I've ever been at the state of the men's basketball program at SDSU.

I'm angry. And that's where I'll leave it tonight.

Chalk one up to another not impressive game for the SDSU men. I dont even know where to start. Its getting hard cheering for this team. I want to so bad but its hard to get excited when i dont feel any excitement coming from the team.

Coming into this year, I was thinking this was the year the Jackrabbit men were going to turn the corner.

Games like this make me think we haven't even GOTTEN to the corner yet, let alone turn it.

                          Re: Cal Poly - GDT

How about cutting some slack in regards to the fact that (as with other sports) we have not been funded or staffed like a D1 program. I think it says a TON about the person Coach Nagy is that we have added the recruits we have in the past two seasons (this years freshmen and next). I know for a fact that Heemstra was looking for a college coach with great character because I heard it directly from his head coach. Not sure what all the problems are right now. The Iowa St. and opening round tourney win last year and the Wyoming win right off the bat this year should have given the team a boost. If players are not producing Coach will not just stand pat. He also doesn't turn his back on kids in the program and take away their scholarships if they don't pan out. I think Dykstra will add toughness and a person who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Who is to say both recruits don't change their minds if Coach is not back? I agree with someone else who says Coach deserves a chance to see those recruits come in and play for him.
We have people on here all the time talking about how proud they are of the men produced by the football program. Do we want a basketball coach in here bringing in guys with shady pasts and tats all over? I want the Jacks to win as much as the next guy, but I want a Coach and players we can all be proud of in the process.

I am going to check out on watching the basketball games on the internet for a while. The team is making it difficult to not scream at my computer screen which does nothing for anyone involved. I am just going to check the scores and hope for wins.

You'd think something has to click here sometime. Why in the hell we play such poor defense is beyond me. Its pretty ugly though. We aren't tough at all.

No reason to apologize. There is obviously a lot wrong with what is going on right now.
