Re: Summit League Tournament: Game One

One post from Mexico, thats it. We backed into the post-season tourney with 4 losses (on the road so they don't count). Some might consider that a "victory" or mark of a successful campaign. At the start of the year I stated that I'd be happy with a tourney bid. Well, I was wrong, I'm not that happy. I will be there to cheer the team on.

I have no idea what team will show up next weekend, no idea. The much scarier part? I don't thing the coaches or the players have any idea which team will show up. Regardless, we will all be there (and by we I mean the fans) just like we have been there for years and will be for decades (for some of us) to come.

This is a great opportunity for Sioux Falls, South Dakota and SDSU. I'm hoping for the best while I'll be cheering for the Jacks.

It is March 1st and for the first time ever SDSU is a part of the NCAA D-I Madness. This is something I have wanted all my life. If that can't make you happy as a Jacks fan then nothing will. Go Jacks!

Re: Summit League Tournament: Game One

Win and keep playing. Lose and go home. It's basketball in March, and Championship Week (TM) is coming to Sioux Falls.

          What's not to like?

Sure, we'd rather be where NDSU or ORU are . . . oh, wait, WE ARE! We're in the conference tournament, just like NDSU, ORU, and five other Summit League schools are. Two teams have gone home. The Jackrabbits are still standing. Battered and bruised, perhaps, but still standing. The glass isn't all the way full, but it's not exactly empty, either. The teams coming to Sioux Falls and they'll have to deal with . . . us.

Time for the Jackrabbit Nation to put the rally caps on, buy extra tins of Sucrets, tune up the vocal cords, put on the yellow and blue, and turn out once more.

It's time to reclaim the tradition, starting now.

          Rah Rah Rabbits!

          Eliminate the Eagles!

Now that is certainly a disappointing comment. Clearly not a Jacks fan! I agree with bbfan. If the Jacks win that first game Just in the crowd will likely be one of the first to say how about those Jacks! A fan is a fan regardless of the final score or the season. I don't think anyone on the team is ready for their season to end - so as fans we should not be making comments such as one and done!

                And once more:

Can anyone tell me if the tournament games are going to be broadcast on GoJacks.com? Or do I have to watch on SummitTV?

I really believe that we can beat Oral Roberts...we have had some close games with them, it's really hard to keep beating a team time and time again...I think that we can beat them ...this weekend....

I agree with most of this post.
Fans will say things about turning the corner after games like the Iowa State game.
I think this last week sums up the team and fans fairly well. They played good and should have beat ORU but then they played bad and lost to Centenary. How can you judge this team? The fans are judging the team game by game. Both parts are inconsistent.
Most of the fans here have faith in the team. Will we beat ORU? We played them tough but we are 0-2 against them. All we can do is show up, cheer them on and hope they pull it out.
The part I don't fully agree with is I'm relatively happy. Were there other game we should have won? Yes!! It sucks losing so many games that we were in the lead in the last few minutes in. The way we lost them makes it even tougher. I wish I could say that if we were in this situtation last year, the fans would have been happy. I don't think some of them would have been. We are 4 games better in conference than last year(we should have more but we don't). That's a decent jump in 1 year. I'm sure if we go 11-7 next year, people won't be happy. I'll be one of them. I think we'll improve by more than that just because of all the close/heartbreaking losses and players other teams are losing. I think I'll make a prediction before the conference season next year and see how close I come.
I'm not singling jackmd out on the happy part. I posted his post about the inconsistent part and being there for the team cheering. Most of us have been doing it for years and will be doing for many more to come.

Like it has been said on the board before, we have to be a team that no one wants to face in the touney. Hope the large Jacks crowd makes this tourney a home game away from FROST.

What's the SF Arena hold? 6k? Well there better be 4500 Jacks fans there on Saturday and I'm not looking for you fuddy duddies that sit on your @$$ the whole game and think it's the end of the world to get up and clap for the school song. No seats go empty on Saturday Jacks fans, I've got guys banging down my office door for my extra ticket. There's more of those people out there. And STAND UP AND YELL like there's no tomorrow, because you know what, without the 6th Man, there may be no tomorrow. You get Sunday off to recoup your vocals for noon Monday.

This is what we've waited for since the last season of d-2. A real d-1 basketball tournament in our backyard. "Eight teams are guaranteed a spot, are you?" Don't miss out. You will kick yourself later if you do.

Okay, enough is enough of this, we could win, we have a chance to win, we played ORU tough mumbo jumbo... I'm taking Jackrabbit confidence to the extreme like the team needs to do themselves in order to start winning these close games! The South Dakota State University Jackrabbit Men's basketball team will win their opening game of the 2009 Summit League Tournament against Oral Roberts University by 3 points and Michael Palarca will hit the game winning three pointer! End of story, you can compare me to Nostrodomus later

I sure hope we can beat them. It would be a great upset, and it would be nice to make it to day two of the Summit League Tourney.
