I don't see the point why people are getting mad about him swearing, coaches swear all the time. Doesn't matter, once you get to the college, maybe even high school, level coaches are going to swear. I bet you anything AJ and Nagy do it too, maybe no as much but they still do it.

I have a strong feeling Nagy does not do it too often. Maybe I am wrong and am just being naive to the fact. Same goes for Stig, as people have mentioned numerous times here before, the most profane language he uses is "Dang".

I was always taught, you can tell a person's intelligience by the words they use when they are angry and upset.

Just because coaches swear all the time doesn't make it the right thing to do. John Wooden was a fairly decent basketball coach, and he found a way to teach and motivate his players without using much profanity.

Also, if a coach swearing is okay, why do they still bleep colorful interviews when I am watching TV? That would be because it is socially unacceptable behavior in public, whether you are on the sidelines of a basketball game or on Sports Center.

Any coach who uses the type of language the Oakland coach used should get a T, and if he continues should get thrown out. No matter what their winning percentage is, period.

But if I sit in the bleachers up top and a fan is using the same language, they would risk getting thrown out of the arena? There have been many times when I have told a fellow spectator to watch their language, and almost every time they did for the rest of the game.

The refs should have done the same during the Oakland game. All they would have had to say was, "coach, if you use that type of language around me tonight I'm going to T you up," and then keep their word. 2 or 3 games like that and I guarantee the coach modifies his language (whether junior high, high school, college, or pros) and we aren't having this discussion.

Excellent SFRabbit. I could not agree more. It was embarrasing to listen to this guy. Whomever mentioned that the Jacks coach's use this type of language is way off base. This gentlemen needs to expand his vocabulary beyound four letter words. You can express your displeasure with a player or official in other ways to get your point accross. In fact, I would go as far to suggest that he costs his team certain calls during the game because of his attitude. Somewhere deep in those itty-bitty officials minds they will get even! Don't think any official comes to the game thinking about being a homer. But, treat them with the lack of respect that Coach Kampe exhibits and it will cost you.

The Oakland women's coach was a class act. They (Oakland) has a very good womens team.

That being said, I think Oakland is the best Men's team in the Summit League this year. I was impressed with Benson, Jones and Kangas. I read an earlier post from an Oakland fan that was very complimentary about our Jacks and we thank you for that. But, I don't think the best team won Saturday night. They would be my favorite to win the summit tournament.

It's not like Oakland's coach is the only one that swears, I think most of you are being a little uptight about this. Maybe it's because I'm a college student and I've heard a lot worse coming from the student section but it's not a big deal to me.

Honestly, I'm with Mango4 on this one. Some coaches swear. Some don't. So long as they're not yelling curse words in front of 4-year-olds, it's really not a big deal to me.

Good thing there weren't any 4 year olds at the game then.

Just kidding JJ and Mango, I know some coaches swear at games and its not going away anytime soon. It just seems like the Oakland coach took it to the next level, and it could have easily been stopped by the officials (and apparently was stopped by Mike Burgers after the game--funny thing about bullies, if you stand up to them they usually back down). Although with the way Summit officials have been, I don't expect them to assert themselves that much.

I think it's time for an NCAA rule change. During media timeouts if the coach is at midcourt chewing on the officials and not in his huddle with his team it should be a technical foul. Or any timeout for that matter. Timeout are intended for instructions to players, not time to work an official. The way to stop the F-bombs is the technical foul also. He gets 2, then he waits for the team in the locker room. After all it is only a game.

I agree with this post. Do you guys remember when Rotert was knocked to the floor in the NDSU(?) game. A.J. went out and did the same thing. He used over half the timeout chewing on the officials. Rotert was fouled so AJ did have a beef. Rotert was across half court and AJ was still down at the other end of the court doing some butt chewing. That was when somebody got injured though. Not just chewing for calls that he thought were bad.
I think the swearing was what bothered me more. There were tons a kids there for the "fast break clinic". Those kids had to put up with that language. He was swearing loud enough 1/2 the Arena heard him. I don't mind yelling but swearing is unprofessional in my opinion.
I saw this on page 2 so it may have already been covered.
