    Re: Oakland Coach

My 2 cents, I don't have a huge problem with the swearing. I make it clear to my children that they are not to use language like that. When they are old enough I'll help them understand why. My problem is the intent with which the coach approaches the officials. No one should allow themselves to feel intimidated when they are trying to perform their job. The Oakland coach was very disrespectful in that regard. Granted, the officials allowed it to happen so they are in some way responsible. Its alright to be unhappy with a call or try to suggest a correction/be critical of an error but I think he took it a little too far.

Now, when I hear people swear a lot in their professional lives or when they're on the clock, it affects my opinion of them. Must just be an age thing.

Not a direct quote, but I believe after a bad "no call" by the ref at the far end of the court he said something along the lines of "What the FCK was that Fitz." Fitz, I believe, being the nickname of the ref who did not make the call. Funny thing was Nagy was T'd up immediately by the ref closest to the Jack's bench. Now I'm not saying this is common place, but Nagy does let one fly every once in a while.

and the moral of your post is that if the oakland coach would have been t'd up for an f-bomb, he probably would have shut his mouth the rest of the game. i think all coaches let one go but they also get a T for it.

He used over half the timeout chewing on the officials. Rotert was fouled so AJ did have a beef. Rotert was across half court and AJ was still down at the other end of the court doing some butt chewing. That was when somebody got injured though. Not just chewing for calls that he thought were bad.
I think the swearing was what bothered me more. There were tons a kids there for the "fast break clinic". Those kids had to put up with that language. He was swearing loud enough 1/2 the Arena heard him. I don't mind yelling but swearing is unprofessional in my opinion.
I saw this on page 2 so it may have already been covered.
I remember this but my impression was AJ was upset they did not honor his Timeout right away as AJ seemed concerned about Kristen hitting the floor. I thought he was concerned she maybe hit her head again. The entire time he was walking on the court he was signaling the Timeout and did not get the ref's to honor it until he was 1/2 way on the court. That was just my impression of that. After the timeout was honored, AJ immediately went over to check on Kristen. If he returned to talk to the Ref's, I don't recall that.

He may, but how the Hll does that relate to the performance we saw (and heard) Saturday night, where the swearing was probably 95% of Kampe's vocabulary...and it certainly doesn't defend his running off the court to take after the referees. And it certainly doesn't defend his actions in trying to get into the referee's room, when he was stopped, because he had the F-bombs flying there also (I was there also). His actions were irresponsible and you may think the times have changed (in use of cussing, that is true...doesn't make me feel any better), but I believe the entirety of his actions speaks for itself...despicable!

I was not trying to justify Kampe's actions or language, 1bunnies just said "I challenge you to find someone who has heard Coach Nagy swear at a ballgame. Dang and Darnit do not count." so I responded with a time he did actually swear that I had witnessed. As for cussing by coaches, I'm not really one that condones constant swearing, but if a coach lets one fly every once in a while I don't really have a problem with that.

                  Re: Oakland Coach

I dont think Coach Kampe will ever be Coach Nagy's replacement so maybe we should let it go. I would hope the Summit League Commissioner and staff are as well organized as the D2 NCC Conference, especially when Noel Olson was the commissioner. I know of procedures for coaches to follow when officating it not to there satisfaction. I also got to know one football ref and I mentioned that already, and he told me about what it was like to be on that end of the stick. Also I learned of the procedures from many conversations with Dr. Fred Oien. I can't imagine the Summit League, though at a D1 level is anything less than the NCC in terms of procedures and communication amongst conference members.
I am very sure Tom Douple knows the Oakland coach well and if he has never received any complaints about Kampe, then I am floored.

Can we find another topic to discuss?

Dude, is it your job or just your hobby to try to stir the pot at all times? I would be hard pressed to find anything positive you have ever posted.
