As an Oakland fan, maybe I can offer a little perspective on Kampe, for what it's worth. He's a very competetive guy and he's never been afraid to say what he thinks to anyone - players, officials, etc. He has been criticized for it on plenty of occasions, but there's almost always a method to his "mad-ness" (in the literal sense of him being angry about something). When OU played at Iowa earlier this season, Kampe's comments at the postgame press conference ripped Iowa's administration and their terrible practice facilities. It was a big deal in their local press, and many people thought Kampe was out of line. But Todd Lickliter was actually grateful for Kampe's tirade, because it was the truth and it may help Lickliter finally get the practice facilities he's been pushing for.
I don't know what happened on Saturday night, and I have no idea if Kampe was genuinely trying to address a specific call or if he was simply pissed off and flew off the handle. It is entirely possible that he exercised poor judgment. But if you look at the history, he's done a pretty good job over the years of not crossing the line. Now, if angry cursing by D1 college coaches is considered scandalous in South Dakota across the board, then you're all going to find plenty to complain about in the coming years. Bring earplugs if you sit near the bench. Sometimes it seems like some posters on this forum don't even want Scott Nagy to raise his voice. Coaches who yell are not always terrible human beings. It wouldn't suprise me at all to hear that Kampe had gone way out of his way to help someone like Gene Keady did. Ron Hunter has literally acted like a maniac during certain games in the past, and yet he's done a great job on a personal level with the shoe campaign.
Finally, congrats on the win Saturday night. Your team showed a ton of heart in coming back from 17 down, and you deserved to win the game down the stretch. I don't think there are any Summit teams who will be eager to face the Jacks in Sioux Falls. I think SDSU has been a great addition to the Summit, and it's good to see the progress Nagy is making with your program. And kudos for the tremendous fan support at both games on Saturday.
