This guy should have just been T'ed and that's the end of it. He might be a bad guy, he might not, but his behavior has nothing to do with the degradation of our morality.
Edit: As stated by Germane, if we have such an issue with coaches swearing, we are in for a rude awakening. You should hear the stuff that comes flying out of the huddle from Bill Self. That would really make some blush. People in Lawrence sure don't think he is too bad of a guy. Getting back to the Coach, Germane has help us out there. I still have some problems with him running after officals. Otherwise the man has the right to his own opinion.

Re: Oakland Coach
I saw Kampe running off the court, saw him get stopped by the SDSU administrator. I thought it was curious, but I also thought Kampe was being Kampe. He's a good coach which means he's hyper-competitive. Maybe he shows it in ways that are unfortunate--that people don't like, but I'm also don't see it as something uniquely worthy of an Internet feeding frenzy.
I'd rather dwell on the Kangas/Griffan C. 3-point shooting exhibition, or the fact that the men finally won a close/overtime league game, or even that Snookums is looking at the women's basketball capsules in USA Today this morning and they have all of the top 25 games EXCEPT SDSU's. Now THAT is a scandal!
Kampe is a bit of a loose cannon. It's his style. I can deal with that. Someday he'll cross the line and will have a Really Bad Day--folks who are that volatile always eventually cross the line. I hope it isn't a day when Oakland is playing SDSU, because it will end a pretty good coach's career."I think we'll be OK"

Re: Oakland Coach
Both coaches from Thursday and Saturday during the mens' games got a good portion of Frost Arena home cookin'. We didn't need the "Homer Hankies" from the Twins games, we had them running the court in the stripes.Last edited by Just in the crowd; 02-02-2009, 11:25 AM.

Re: Oakland Coach
Unless Kampe was throwing punches or chairs on Saturday, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with Filbert's prediction that Kampe's temperament will somehow inevitably cost him his coaching career.
I've been watching Kampe (and college basketball more generally) for years and his behavior has never crossed the line, IMO. Maybe Saturday was dramatically different, and there was actual misconduct, in which case we would hear from the league. But I would be very surprised if it rose to that level. I could see Summit officials putting Kampe on a shorter leash and maybe T'ing him up a little quicker in coming games, but it seems a bit of a stretch to view Kampe's volatility as some kind of inevitable career-threatening time bomb. Or maybe some of the other posters here are right. Maybe Kampe and his profanity really are the harbingers of a pending moral apocalypse, and we should all build soundproof bunkers and listen to Amy Grant music all day long....
Since that last comment probably wore out whatever welcome I may have had here, I'll just conclude by saying that Oakland fans have a lot of respect for your program, and whatever Kampe did after the game should not be seen as a sign of disrespect to your team. You deserved to win the game regardless of the officiating. Good luck on the road this week against IUPUI and WIU.

Profanity is the refuge of those that can't match their emotions with their vocabulary. I think the biggest danger of using it to the degree this coach apparently did, other than falling on young ears, is that your team might tune you out after the 173rd f-bomb.
Gary Williams of Maryland is my nomination for the most profane coach in America. Not even close, IMHO. He is an aficianado of the mf bomb, used multiple times in single sentences on many occassions. Which makes makes one wonder what goes through the minds of mothers of his players.

Re: Oakland Coach
I don't see the point why people are getting mad about him swearing, coaches swear all the time. Doesn't matter, once you get to the college, maybe even high school, level coaches are going to swear. I bet you anything AJ and Nagy do it too, maybe no as much but they still do it.
