Nagy goes and who replaces him? A present asst coach, who is also in the same motivational boat as Nagy? Someone from the outside? Another coach from inside the school? To me it seems you sink or swim with him the rest of the season at this point of the game. Who is available now to replace him?

However, Scott has said it himself multiple times the last several years. He can't seem to get through to these guys and get them to play the way he knows they can. Am I to assume that the problem is with a series of players over several years? I'm not that big of a fool and I don't think others here are either. This is Nagy's program, he gets the credit, he gets the blame, he should be the one expected to fix it. No bashing here, just concern about the ongoing inconsistency of what should be a solid (not great mind you) teams that competes every minute of EVERY game. We haven't seen that in 5 years.
I do not disagree with anything that you have posted here and I dont see it as bashing. I have been tempted to give up on Nagy more than once in the past five years. But out of the blue we have two of his collegues in coaching from the Summit League telling the press that Coach Nagy is a very good coach. I don't think they would be making these public statements to fool anyone and its not BS as our packer tattoo guy would like us to believe.
These coaches know the game much better than our tatto guy, and they know of what they speak.

Its frustrating to lose and when you win, its a different day all together. I think what Jimmy Jack has said and from my own observations, Nagy is here for a while no matter what the outcome of this season and next. I can't see a new AD doing anything without first taking a look at the program and talking to Coach Nagy. No AD is going to act based on hearsay or negative statements posted on this board, but I would think he/she will want to evaluate the entire situation before taking any action.

I really dont know what happened tonight. TV in his Argus blog mentions that Coach Nagy stopped yelling or he was beyond yelling and once a game gets out of hand there is not much a coach can do. I seen some very long faced opponent coaches at Frost whenever we have gotten a good jump on an opponent. Maybe not in the past 5 years so much but going back further, the frowns and silent coaches were visible.

All coaches claim how good the coach is of the team they play next. The coach of their next opponent is the next John Wooden.

Nagy was a good DII coach, and he is still recruiting DII players. Kids from small town SD are not going to bring SDSU to the next level.

Get used to 20 loss seasons!

Why not? Pierre has 2 kids playing significant minutes at Divison I schools, Pierre may be considered a large town in South Dakota but its a small own, and you would be foolish to think SDSU didn't have shots at them. Like I said earlier, it was pretty much a package deal, if Tveidt would have been a Jackrabbit, Willard would have followed. And this isn't a I heard from this guy, who heard it from this guy, who talk to his mom's third cousin, I've heard it from Willard's parents, who are very good friends with my parents.

Colton Iverson is another example, Yankton is considered a large town in South Dakota but not across the country, yet he is getting significant minutes on a 12-1 team.

I think we just missed out on some of the better recruits in the state the last couple of years, but I think its starting to change with getting White and Fiegen.
What most people don't know is Michael's scholarship offer was pulled by SDSU to give to Cordova..... Tveidt was waivering his decision way to much..... I was actually told and I know Mango you are from Pierre but I was told from other people in Pierre that he really liked SDSU but his brother went to NDSU so he went there.... don't know if that is true or not...

As far as the game..... It was bad..... but hey a loss is a loss whether its 1 or 50..... I think this loss might get to them a little bit better then a close loss..... It seemed like they were satisfied with loosing close games... hopefully this will change things....

Yes all coaches do that because they respect what the other guy has to do day in and day as a coach, its something that some of us can not even began to imagine. If coaching and recruiting were easy, I would be a coach.

Other than Casey being from Wounded Knee, what other small town kids are on the team? Oh yeah Peterson from Volga, but he is a walk on. So when do you start helping us recruit Just in Crowd? You seem to know what it takes. If I am snarky, its because I am tired of people who think they can do better than the current people hired to run the program.

Whether Tviedt turns out to be better than Cordova, only time will tell. Sometimes family can influence decisions and the fact the Tviedt's brother was attending NDSU might have been a part of Tviedt choice. In that case, he might also have told the SDSU staff this fact and by default Cordova was next in line for the offer. In my mind, I think that might have been the case. Tviedt is a very good player imo, but he also has a right to make choices in life. Unfortuately they did not include attending SDSU.

Of course the other coaches are saying that, they get to play us twice a year.

                  From the www.argusleader.com:

"I could tell going into this that we were just out of it and lackadaisical," said Callahan, who had a team-high 12 points. "I didn't step up and do something about that. That's not the coaches' fault; that's my fault. I'm embarrassed about it, because this is my team."
As bad as the loss was, this is somewhat encouraging. At least one of the players is stepping up and taking some blame. I like Garrett a lot...where would our season be without him.

From what I understand is what you said is pretty much right. His brother went to NDSU loved it, told Michael how much he liked it, so Michael chose NDSU over SDSU. Also from what I understand, his decision was made much easier because SDSU pulled the scholarship offer to give to Cordova because Michael was still debating. Which was a decision that cost them getting both Michael and Sam.

Man this is getting old, and I'm not talking about losing right now. Can't you all just leave all the rhetoric in another thread?

This loss hurts so bad. I think we all thought is was all on track at this point and were waiting to compete for the Summit crown. Well, that was crushed.

It's my intuition that says the team was thinking the same going into this game. Maybe they were taking things for granted. Assuming they could coast against a lower opp. The only way I see that coaching could have made this tough loss happen is if Nagy was too negative on their loss to Oakland. I don't believe that. Every player should have known that the only reason it was close was their high 3pt. percentage and they obviously can not count on that alone for a successful season.

The team and coaches have to be hurting much worse than the fans at this point. We will see how they respond not only in this game, but if they will learn they need to "bring it" for every game.

I'm not saying Nagy should stay or go, but as it was said, it won't happen until at least the end of this year, so why bother swallowing and puking the same crap each week.

Will be on the edge of my seat for next weeks games. Please Jacks, come to play!!

I have calmed down from last night, but the frustrating part to me is how does anyone see the future being better? And please dont tell me Chad and Tony are are going to turn this thing around as freshmen. Paint me a realistic picture or improvement after our junior class leaves?

SDSU played even ball with them score wise in the second half. Did IPFW come out that strong or did the Jacks not come out with the fire they should have after the first half?

                          ...

Think I may have answered my own question after reading TV's article: "Things got better in the second half, when SDSU went 16-of-33 from the floor, 48.5 percent, and 7-of-11 from beyond the arc, 63.6 percent."

They must not have had much for defensive intensity to not gain ground with those shooting percentages.

The loss to IPFW was sickening, almost as bad as a couple of those D-II butt kickings a few years ago. There is hope for the future. The Jacks lose Casey and Wipf next year. That's it. Radar will come out of his redshirt year, and 6-10 juco center Anthony Davis is likely to have recovered from the injury that kept him out this year. Throw in the Madison studs, Carlson, Pederson and a point guard recruit, and there's a lot of reason for optimism. Unfortunately, it's a year off. I can't hold the transition against Nagy. But this year counts and next year counts. If Nagy can't win by next season, he'll probably have to go. Until then, we shouldn't be adding to his problems.

I'm still not sure why many want to just give up on this year. I don't want to give up I just want people to admit when something truly unacceptable happens. Trying to rationalize a loss to SWMS early in the year leads to a blowout like yesterday. There needs to be a willingness to accept the blame when you screw up. I think I'm hearing that after this game.

So, onward an upward. IMHO someone should have called the team out when SWMS embarrassed them in the early season, exhibition game or not. You can't have the mentality that losing is okay regardless of the situation or the opponent. You play to win the game.............
