  • Re: 2007 Recruits

1bunnies...can you provide a link to the release? I'd like to read about the guy but I must be doing something wrong because I'm not finding anything on SDSU's site.

A quick search on the internet reveals a 5'10" guard from Chatsworth, CA, Michael Palarca...he's quite a player.  Same guy?

    Thanks.

    Go Rabbits!!

Found this article from Google. Scroll to the bottom of the page to where it talks about Palarca.

Looks like we got a good recruit here, another point guard in the mix with Callahan.

sounds like a good recruiting class. Only one draw back, Im not seeing a big guy or post player. Unless the team is counting on Beran and maybe berte coming back, those 2 are only going to help next year. unless next year we get a lot of post players in. Are any players getting redshirted this year? Either way im really looking forward to next year.

Our talent level is really improved over the last couple of years with the addition of this years recruiting class and last year. We need to be patient with these young men and get out and support them at Frost. It was nice with this last recruit to here other schools such as Xavier and the other SDSU interested in him. Nice job coaches.

Agree!! Get your season tickets early and get some butts in the seats. These guys will be exciting to watch if they can come together as a TEAM. I think Nagy and DC can get that done.

                Jacks sign another top recruit

BROOKINGS, S.D. - South Dakota State University signed California high school prospect Michael Palarca to a letter of intent on Tuesday, indicating his plans to enroll at SDSU next fall and participate in the men’s basketball program.

A 5-10 guard from Santa Clarita, Calif., and Chatsworth High Shcool’s all-time leader in points, assitsts and steals, Palarca averaged 18.7 points, 7.3 assists and 5.1 steals per game in 2006-07 as a senior. He also led the Chancellors to a 20-8 record and into the second round of the Los Angeles City Championship.

Palarca also led Chatsworth to a 9-1 West Valley League record, earning him league most valuable player honors in the process. In addition to his MVP honors, he earned all-city and all-area honors during his senior year, when he ranked 13th in the nation with 134 steals. . . . (read more)

The kid was recruited by SDSU as well as other D-I for football decided to play basketball and just didn't work out at Morningside or Dakota State, played last year at Minnesota West and is currently playing baseball with them, has seemed to have gotten his head on straight. A great talent would be a senior elgibilty, could really help with the deffense and come in and play strong minutes.

I usually try to stick up for you, because I know you get blasted alot, but I can't do it again. Are you being serious?

First off, he was recruited for football at SDSU - does that make him a D1 basketball player?

Second, He's not even close to the best player on that team - an average team(with a tradition of putting out mainly NAIA players when they do move on). He couldn't make it at either Morningside or Dakota State - why? There was some health problems, but it was mostly due to just not being talented enough to play. There is maybe a chance he plays at an NAIA program when he is done at MN West, but that is the the highest he will play.

I think you posted that just to get your post ripped on.

Unfortunately he's being serious......this is par with his other postings. Doty didn't even start for MN West. He's at the level that best suits his talent. Nice kid, nice athlete, not a DI basketball player.

Somebody told me accouple of years ago if I wanted to get the boards hot just start posting controversal stuff.

As far as Doty I'll be serious now... Out of high school I thought he was a D-I kid, and I think he thought as well, he went NAIA hoping that he would get a shot at a legit D-I college and things kind of fell apart from there. Do I think he is a D-I player or even a guy that SDSU should recruit, no not really, but if SDSU is going to cary over there 1 available scholarship I would like to see it go out to Craig or a player like him. Would he be a go to threat? no. but he would play 110% would play great defense and would help out alot with a young team.

No way. I should put my name into Nagy then. If only I had eligibility left.

This article has him listed as 5'8". GoJacks had him listed as 5'10". I'm guessing he's 5'8" at best. Either way, we needed another point gaurd.

The Chatsworth site has him listed at 5' 10" on the roster. Height is such a funny thing. It varies widely depending on who you ask.
