He now appears to be considering DII options in Minnesota which may be a sign that both SDSU and NDSU have found the true center they both need elsewhere. Many solid DI recruits in Minnesota in 2007 who are headed to Junior Colleges for academic reasons that we will have to keep our eye on as they may resurface on the DI level.
Or maybe it is a sign the kid can't play Division One basketball. We have been down that road already, and can't afford to give any more scholarships to kids that have it narrowed down to us and some DII schools.[/quote]

I think that is what my last post just said? I agree we cannot make a huge gamble/mistake on the next center we recruit which is why I would like to find a juco player which means experience. The task of finding the diamond in the rough in the Juco ranks after the major and esstablished mid-level college programs make their choices is hardly easy.

Nothing to get to worked up over, but Brandon Valley is looking hands down favorite to win the state tittle. Remember the last guy we got out of Brandon after they won the state title? It worked out pretty well, I'm not saying Moss will be the next Austin Hasen, but If he can have even close to the same sucess as Hansen had, it will be exciting watching him play and helping us get back on the winning track.

Brandon Valley is not the "hands down" favorite to win state. I think this is the most balanced year we have seen in a long time. BV got beat by a very average Aberdeen team, and they have not been blowing people out. There were already some upsets in the first round of AA.

However, it could provide a look at some of the top athletes in the state. Moss from BV and Iverson from Roosevelt, both coming to SDSU, Truex from O'G and DeZeeuw from BV both going to Augie, Willard from Pierre, going to Pacific, and Iverson from Yankton, who is just a junior. The next couple of weeks should be fun, and it MAY give some SDSU fans their first look at Moss.

Moss is a slasher, and a fair off-the-ball defender. He needs to work on his jump shot and his man-to-man, but he certainly is an upgrade athleticly from a couple of the guards we have seen the last year or two.

You should probably have clarified the Iverson from Roosevelt was Brad Iverson who is coming here to play football. Had me confused there for a couple minutes.

When was the last time that the top team in the state only had one loss going into the tournament? I honestly dont know but i would guess it would have been awhile. Just cuz they havent been blowing them out doesnt mean they wouldnt be favorites.

sorry forgot to add, but having talked to a few people, it is more difficult than people understand to get a good quality recruit to come to Brookings. Our small size and remoteness works against us.

Isn't there a spring signing day in April as well? I wonder if we are recruiting overseas at all?

I think Imentioned it earlier, assuming everyone is back, we need a speedy point guard and one more veteran big man. Any possible JC recruits being mentioned? Knsas and Iowa are fertile JC grounds. Hope Coach Nagy is checking them out.

With 27 points in Tuesday night's first-round Class 3A state tournament win over Central Clinton of DeWitt, Bishop Heelan's Clint Sargent climbed to 10th on Sioux City's all-time boys prep basketball scoring list.
