Would like to see us keep in touch with Granstra. Griffan has also been offered by Niagara University. My sources tell me we have a player who may come back and play his senior season next year.

The Brandon Valley gym was wedged tight with people on Tuesday night. So tight, it seemed, that even the rims made themselves a little smaller.

The No. 1-ranked Brandon Valley Lynx struggled to find the range against the hustling and physical fourth-ranked Roosevelt Rough Riders, but eventually got things going well enough to take a 46-36 victory in boys basketball.

The Lynx (9-0) kept from going off the deep end during an intensely wicked stint of poor shooting in the first half by continuing to play Roosevelt tough defensively and on the boards.

How bad did it get? Well, the Lynx barreled into the second quarter with a 6-5 lead over the Riders.

And then the Lynx cooled off.

"They threw a zone at us that we really hadn't seen before," said Brandon Valley's Dale Moss, who led the Lynx with 14 hard-earned points. "It took us awhile to get used to it."  .  .  .  (read more)

Lynx fighting to stay on top
            Brandon Valley winning with teamwork

BRANDON - Earlier this week, Brandon Valley's Dale Moss was analyzing a Lynx victory over Roosevelt when a teammate volunteered that it was the first time Moss had played defense all season.

"No, it was the third time," Moss corrected with a straight face.

In truth, Brandon Valley's 6-foot-4 do-everything senior has had to play a lot of defense during the course of the Lynx's 9-0 start because it has not been the squad's habit so far to win games with a lot of comfort.

In the long run, that might be a good thing.

"It's not like we've been blowing teams out of the water," said Brandon Valley coach Brent Deckert, whose Lynx host Yankton tonight at 7:30. "If we were winning every game by 25, we might have some problems (with motivation), but we've had to strap it on every night to win."

With a pair of the state's top seniors in Moss, who has committed to South Dakota State, and 6-8 Derrick DeZeeuw, a nimble Augustana-bound post player, the Lynx have been blessed with two players who make life difficult for opponents.

That is especially true during a close game, which happens to be an experience the Lynx (with five wins by five points or fewer) know well despite being undefeated and ranked No. 1.  .  .  .  (read more)

You must be referring to BERTE coming back and BERAN for their final year!

What do you think of that????

I watched the highlights of the game last night. Moss looks quicker and more skilled than anyone else on the court. Hence his plans to attend SDSU.

from what i have seen moss is very impressive. the only thing that has slowed him down lately has been foul trouble so most of these stats have been in about 2qts of play.

He caught a lob from underneath the basket last night that was absolutely amazing. He had to stretch back and over a defender, pull it down and popped right back up to score the hoop. It reminded me of why I think he will be a good in Frost, but he would be AMAZING in CAS. I know the chances of that happening are slim and none, but man...he's tall, long, fast enough, his hands that are as soft as pillows, and he has a knack for getting the ball. OK, time to move on.
