Re: 2010 Recruits
I was surprised with Steve Jurich's shooting, toughness, and passing. He looks very comfortable shooting from inside, midrange, free throws, and 3 pointers. Being a lefty has its advantages too.
While he looked very tough and physical in the game footage, he was playing against players that were typically smaller than him. He will not get those same mismatches at the next level. I remember watching how the athletic Gopher bigs made it so difficult for our post players last year. That could cause problems in his offensive game.
I also noticed that his rebounding and inside scoring were more a reflection on his footwork and knowledge, not athletic ability. My high school coach was an undersized post player in college and I learned how to use good footwork and positioning to overcome taller, more athletic players. Jurich is going to have to continue building off those skills at the D-1 level.
Finally, I liked his high post game. He appears to recognize where everyone is on the court and how to get it to the low post using a variety of passes. In addition, with his ability to nail it from long distance, he will be able to stretch defenses.
Here is another self-promotion video done up for him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqLqNf3JQ3Q&NR=1

Last year in Juco he averaged 16ppg (9th in conference) and 12.1 rebs (1st in conference - 5th in the nation). He was First Team in his conference and Second Team All-American NJCAA.
Freshman year he averaged 15/10.
Some MonteMosiman-esque moments there with bodies flying and all (you oldtimers will understand)... He looks like a banger, which is always a nice piece of the puzzle to have... Hope he comes aboard...

It's not quite "nationally ranked signing class" type recognition, but it -is- recognition:

SDSU noted as an 'honorable mention best of the rest'

Not sure if these have been posted yet, but they are video links of #54 Heemstra & #42 Dykstra.

First and foremost, it's hard to judge these two playing against competition that is 5" shorter than them.
What you can get from the film though is that bot players are very skilled for being in the 6'9" range and both have high BBall IQ's.
They can handle the ball, have good touch, and both seemed to be excellent passers for their size. The one negative I saw is that they don't have that explosion with their verticals.
Dykstra seemed a little more polished and the potential to play at SF. Heemstra seemed more like a true center that could really utilize his passing in high/low post scenarios.
The future looks bright with PG Wolters, SG White, SF Dykstra, PF Fiegen & C Heemstra for the next 3 years.

I thought Stephenson was from Indiana originally?
As for Coach Nagy's awareness of what the players are doing this summer, he heard they were in Brookings and that most of them, if not all of them, where seen together is some capacity.

Similar to how Coach put it. I should clarify, Coach Nagy did not specifically say none would redshirt. I miss typed there. He said something more along the lines that he expected that all of them would see playing time this year.
The JUCO guard is from Atlanta and Coach says he is a nice young man who will give SDSU all of his effort on and off the court. Much needed depth at point guard and perhaps someone who can surprise and contribute on both ends of the court.

Especially since the ASU guy if we get him will have to sit a year. We have been so thin on the inside the past few years, that we need these two right out of the gate. No time for a red shirt in these two individual situations.
1. when the depth of your team allows you too
2. when a kid clearly needs a year either physically or maturity wise
Dykstra and Heemstra don't fall into either of those categories....

He wasn't picking on Jackmd. With all the talk lately regarding new players red shirting, the news about none of the new players redshirting will get some people started. I have no problems with none of the new players redshirting. Sometimes redshirting is a good idea if you have a bunch of players on the roster for the same position, but I don't think that will be the case.
