before Zulk was Marking and before him Iverson. both had some amazing teams. know nothing about Iversons background. guessing that Marking was his assistant for at least some time before getting the promotion to HC. Marking took over for Iverson in the middle of the year, basically the same way AJ took over for Nancy

I was pretty sure Zulk coached HS, but it had to be brief. he was not gone from SDSU for long. he finished playing in 1969 and got the HC job in 1974 and spent some time as the assistant to Marking between there.

was also pretty sure about Thor at Webster, i think even, but will not say I am positive that Thor was the coach at Webster when they beat the undefeated Armor team in the State Championship. pretty sure the star of that Webster team was Dave Waldowski who became a Jackrabbit

What was your favorite Chris Howell moment ? Made it just over a month before moving on to Colorado State as Director of Player Personnel.

Wow. Leaving a new new coaching job in a matter of weeks is not classy, even in this era of rapid player and staff turnover in college sports. I guess the only moment I recall in Howell's Jackrabbit coaching career was when he was announced as a new assistant. He was a former Jackrabbit player, so I was glad (mistakenly, it turns out) to see him return to SDSU.
          This space for lease.

Absolutely not classy. Was he wanting to make a move and SD State came up and he took it?? Colorado St must be thinking…well if we can keep him for a month!!!! I don’t get it…there must have been some other personal reasons or just $$$$ and he moves??? Most of these coaches may have better paying jobs in the future but even if he stays a year at Colorado St…and leaves, does that mean he is just a drifter!!?? Maybe I’m being too harsh!!! But, I’ve never done something like that!!! Bryan and he didn’t get along??? Someone has the answer an we will probably find out!!

Howell was an average player at SDSU.
I do not know anything about his coaching career so weather he was a good hire or not, I do not know. Hopefully SDSU can find a good coach that wants what is best for SDSU AND THEMSELVES, not just for themselves.

              • We hired an assistant from SW MN State a couple of weeks ago. Was this a replacement knowing that Howell was leaving or do we need to hire another coach ?

It appears we need an operations person.

One year coaching stay with UMSL whose head coach, ex-Jack Bob Sundvold always looked and acted like ex-Omaha Mav HC Darrin Hansen to me. UMSL has been pretty successful in the GLVC and has better facilities than UMKC and could be a travel partner if they moved up, though they'd probably head to the OVC rather than the Summit.
