One big problem for the Jacks was the almost total ineffectiveness of Appel and Detlinger off the bench, IMHO.

Baylor was fun to watch. Played his ass off.
Doug tried to do too much.
Appel was completely outmatched.
I love Alex Arians.
I am excited to keep watching Zeke Mayo.
Dentlinger is a step too slow.
Mims played hard.
Tough loss, but what a great season.

Great acting job by Bynum.
credit to Friars for imposing their size and style on us and making us play their game
but the ref NEVER NEVER should have called that foul at that point in the game!!! we played very good defense and forced them into a contested shot 6 feet behind the 3 point line. and after the shooter was completely back on the ground with BOTH feet he gets grazed on the side of his ass by the defender going by him
i am sorry but that is NOT the type of contact you call in that spot!! the official took it upon himself TO END THE GAME
the friars still had the lead all he had to do was let them go down and play the same tough defense they played the whole game and let them end the game themselves IF THEY COULD?? we will never know because the official inserted himself into the game at the most critical moment after they had called almost NOTHING the entire game
the announcers said at least 3 different times that we should have had opportunity for 3 point plays after all kind of contact on our guys driving down the lane. and i DO NOT CARE about those!!!! that is fine if you are going to let it be a physical game FINE!!!!! but then do not take your damn whistle out of your pocket with 30 seconds remaining to completely end the game!!!
all that said we did a GREAT job guarding their big guy!! and they did a good job making life tough on our big two
they had 3 guys that absolutely killed us the point guard who opened the game with a 3 and hit the prayer off the glass late in the 1st half
their backup post i think really changed the game on the boards!!! we were actually winning the game on the boards until he came into the game after about the first 8 minutes!! he had a stretch in the second half where he was getting his hands on EVERY rebound!!!
also horcler was big for them
and for us We need Alex Arians to play like he did in the second half far more often on the offensive end. i appreciate his humility and team approach but he needs to be a little more aggressive looking for his offense. but he should NOT be on the all anonymous team any longer
great second halves by AA and Zeke!!!

True statement on the status of college basketball, especially at the P5 level. And probably going to become even more so. http://www.twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/...32076716077063

- Noah changes the game. This is the NCAA tournament and it requires offensive killers to win games here. And not 20 minute dead offensive stretches. It's absolutely infuriating right now to know that the firepower was on the roster. Baylor and Noah are all-time talents and it is a ****ing nightmare that they didn't play in tandem in the NCAA tournament. This was the big leagues today and we didn't have the supporting cast.
- The refs stole a potential Cinderella ending with that call. It should be reviewable like other arbitrary calls. It was BS and it got rewarded. And ended the game.
- We went dry and got timid for a long stretch and that'll hurt for a long, long time. It didn't have to be that way. With that said, can't deny the fight form all the guys. Especially Alex, man. This sucks so much. The opportunities are rare and we didn't perform at our peak to do something special. Loved watching this team more than any other and it truly sucks that it's done.

Whether you say it or not, we are obviously all sitting here considering how we could be going to the second round right now if we had our best pure offensive threat playing in this game. The program has been building up to this talent and competitiveness for years and it's just impossible to not include Noah in the conversation after falling short after a disappointing performance on a massive stage.

Not convinced Noah is quite the elite offensive threat some of you make him out to be. By shooting percentage he is 7th on our team at 39.6% from 3, and only a little better overall.
There is a lot of David Jenkins Jr aspect to his game. He always thinks he is open, and there is no slump he can’t shoot his way out of. Love the confidence, not always the results or decision making. Our defense was significantly better after he went to the bench.
All that said if there was one guy on this team that would almost absolutely rise to the occasion to hit a game winning shot in the NCAA tournament with the world watching, it would be Noah.

I believe it was LetsGoRabbits who said Coach Henderson was a teacher first. Putting in Noah 'when the going got tough' after sticking to his guns all year would have said a lot about coach during that 'learning moment,' just as not putting him in did.
Just like the spring football season, for some this season was already going to have an asterisk next to it regardless of where that first big loss occurred. The same chatter would have happened if we lost at Oral Roberts or if we lost in Sioux Falls.
Great season. I hope Baylor does well at any potential workouts and can't wait to hear what his plans are moving forward.Last edited by peavy; 03-17-2022, 02:47 PM.

i really wish we would just stop this. that decision was apparently made long ago. the team had an incredible season
but NOAH is nothing nothing NOTHING like DJ. i am not even sure that DJ knew there were other players on the team! Noah has handled a very difficult situation with nothing but class!!! he has been there cheering his teammates every second and when it was over embracing doug and crying with him.
does he have his flaws ABSOLUTElY. WHO DOES NOT???
i am sure it is wildly and grossly unlikely but i am still hoping there is some way this works out and he is there with these guys next year winning this game!!! i fully believe he loves his teammates and they love him. i hope that is the starting point for finding a way to have him back.
unlike Noah, i was THRILLED when DJ transferred. i think he would have been a nightmare after daum left. all that said however i think dj was allowed to have that thought process by the head coach. and maybe the current staff would have got him to play differently
NONE of that, however, matters none of us are going back to change any of those things from the past. so could we please MOVE FORWARD
i hope noah comes back!!!!!! if he does not i wish him nothing but health happiness and success!!!
and i believe it will be HARD to replace Doug!! but i think we have some incredible recruits coming and AMAZING players coming back!!! and i believe somehow despite losing an all time ALL TIME GREAT in doug we will find a way to be even better next year!!!
big BIG key- i really really hope we can get more quad one games OOC next year
great season fellas!!!!!! congratulations and BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! on to the future. i think next year is going to be an historically successful year for the rabbits!!!! ... and i dont just mean MBB!!! look at the success of the entire athletic program and i really think EVERY team is going to be even better next year!!!!!!
LETS GO RABBITS
