Yes. He only weighs 190 lbs. Omaha's Thurman weighed 230. It's not all about height.

I was listening to Charles Barkley on the Bill Simmons podcast, and he was talking about the value of college athletes staying in college instead of jumping to the NBA. During that conversation Barkley brought up the concept of sophomore slump. He said that a lot of good college players have what appears to be sophomore slumps after very promising freshman seasons. He said it wasn't usually a slump, but the fact that as freshman, no one has tape or has scouted you, but you're not surprising anyone as a sophomore. He also talked about the summer between sophomore and junior years as when players take their real steps and improve. It immediately made me think of Telly.

That's funny. I just listened to that this morning and also found it very interesting. Definitely seems applicable in this circumstance. Especially with Tellinghuisen being such a key player on last year's team when coaches had to focus on Larson, Marshall, Parks, etc., it would make sense to see Tellinghuisen receive a little bit more of that attention this year as a now-key returning player. I wonder if Daum's continued ascension will cause coaches to have readjust their focus again and maybe open up the door for Tellinghuisen to get back into a groove.

No doubt teams game plan to stop him. Barkley is spot on with his comments. Give coaches some tape to look at teams and players and they will scheme to stop teams/players strengths. As a player matures he learns and has the confidence to adjust to what the other team is doing.

I don't think Telly has a lot of confidence on the offensive end right now. I've been paying attention and he's had some WIDE open shots the last couple games from 3 that he's missed. We really need him to knock those down. I'm not confident he's going to regain his confidence this year. Thankfully we have other weapons we can rely on this year. If he can keep playing good D and rebounding I think we will be ok.

I think next year you'll see him be more aggressive with the drive. Last night he had the ball in the corner and the Omaha defender closed out quick. He started to drive baseline and had his defender beat but he pulled up and kicked it out. He could have gotten to the rim on that one.

Even if he doesn't, a good summer of gym rat style pick-up basketball and stuff can help clear up that mental block. You realize you can score against people again and just have fun playing basketball and it feels a lot more natural when the next season rolls around. Plus, like I said, if Daum keeps playing at the level he's rising to, teams won't be able to lock in on slowing down Tellinghuisen anyway. That's been one of Augie's advantages at our level this year...if any team tries to focus in on 1 or 2 of our key offensive threats (like Jansen and/or Schilling), we have two or three other guys who can all drop 20+ pretty easily. A team can only have so many "best defenders," and if your other threats are playing well and with confidence, those are the guys who can take advantage of the weaker defenders. Having a threatening big man combo like Daum and Theisen for opposing coaches to focus on more should make a huge difference for Tellinghuisen next year, I would think.

              Agree completely.

Apparently Reid is on a different page from the rest of the team.

I think we've discovered why he's not shooting well. He's obviously lacking in style.

Guess he didnt get that memo.

Also It seems apparent that Ian is also the smellist on the team. Seems during the half time of games every one says him at least as far as I can recall. guess jake didnt help telly with his style yet.

I was kinda expecting to see JT Gibson (we recruited) to play some for Omaha but was a no show. Does anybody know if he is injured or some other issue?

Their coach said in the post-game presser they had two guards out that they had expected to be playing. Not sure if he was referring to Gibson or not.

Gibson has been out for a while. Not sure the nature of the injury.
