Having a 3 guard rotation who can switch off on the weave so they aren't able to create as much of a mismatch or having defenders going over or under screens then. Bittle would have been huge to keep that defensive pressure or flattens athletic abilty. That's where having reed at the 4 would help more to have the quicker more athletic guard going. But that's just me and my strategerey(Bushism).

Pry should submit your resume to Nagy.

I'll admit that I'm no basketball genius, wouldn't a Zone Defense (played well) effectively kill the dribble weave at the top of the key?

There, that is a thought. It would be worth a try, but Nagy in the past has relied on man to man defense, but this is one time it might work. I dunno. It has to be on Nagy's mind. I cant imagine Nagy felt good about game preparation. He is not the kind that loves to be beaten into submission.

I know everyone was frustrated with the performance on Sunday but I would argue it was our shot selection and execution on the offensive side that was most alarming. Same as in the IPFW game, going under screens on 3's is an issue. Left a lot of wideopen looks and even though NDSU shot only 37%, I suspect most were from bad efforts fighting through screens or being passive and going under. We held them to 68 points. Nothing wrong with that effort, my biggest concern for this team going forward is the lack of "adjustments" being made by the players. If the players are having an off day then get to the hole. This group is very comfortable sitting back and jacking 3's regardless of the shot clock or their own personal performance. Reminds me a lot of the Timberwolves back in the day, when the jumpers were falling they were awesome, when they were not it could get ugly. But 29%, you just can't get over that on D, regardless how good you are at it.

Reed defending a 3 is a work in progress for sure. He goes under everything or switches a lot of those pics, he's going to have master the task of fighting through those screens. Pretty sure Krab was one of the best at fighting through screens so I'm gonna guess the staff is aware and addressing it.

In my opinion many of these injuries are overuse injuries. Year around basketball is difficult on the body. As kids (parents) continue to specialize on one sport at earlier and earlier ages these types of injuries (stress fractures) are going to be more and more of an issue for college coaches. These kids have many more miles on their legs, ankles, knees, hips etc.... by the time they get to college compared to athletes of the past. I know of many kids today playing year around basketball starting as early as 4th grade.

I agree. Offense, not defense, was the big problem at the NDSU game. A team has got to shoot a lot better than 29 percent to win.

So Much NEGATIVITY!! Drives me nuts. A little comparison for you

                    2014-15 (through 19 games) 12-7 and 3-2 in conference play -
                    2015-16 (through 19 games) 14-5 and 3-2 in conference play -

Is this team in a slump right now? Ya I agree but there is a lot of basketball left to be played.

For those saying this team cant win 3 games in a row in march I will gladly take your tickets to all remaining home games and the summit tourney as there is no room for fans like you in Jackrabbit nation anyways. It seems that some of you are never happy, and find crap to b**ch about no matter what the outcome of a game is. And I'm talking about all sports. We loose a couple of games and the season is a lost cause to some of you all. You can come tell me about it when the season is over, but I and others don't want/need to hear it half way through Jan.

Look around the NCAA, heck Duke has lost 3 in a row, do u think they believe their season is lost?? F*** NO!!

Some of you need to go grab a snickers.

Ill lay $$ on the table that this team will get it together as long as they start playing TEAM BALL but that convo is for another day. Just sick and tired of all the negativity.

You bring up very valid points. My biggest concern moving forward is health. It's only January and we are already a M.A.S.H unit.

Last year we started slow, didnt get marshall till conference play, and finished strong. This year we started strong and are hurting more then we normally are. Which not to make excuses but all teams deal with injuries. So hopefully that means guys get healthy and finish the year strong.

I agree...just think that George's and Jake's injuries are quite a bit more serious than people realize. Not to mention Deondre, Tevin and Flatten. That's a lot...

The team just went to Fargo and got punked for 10th time in the last 11 tries. Not too difficult to understand why this board would be a bit negative. If you don't like it, don't read it. BTW, lol at the Duke comparison.

With that said, if the Jacks can get everybody playing and reasonably healthy i still think they're the best team in the SL. They can and will win three in a row come March in SF.

That is an interesting situation. Sounds like the coach is not exactly willing to reinstate Dupree to his prior status...and who could blame him? Dupree will have to up his game to earn a spot back.
