Good story. Great national pub for SDSU, Coach Otz and Alou. Among Alou's quotes: “South Dakota State is a team on the rise, they’ve been to the NCAA Tournament three of the past five years and some of those high majors weren’t doing that. Does anyone know if part of the recruiting process with a visiting recruit is to take them down to Sioux Falls and see the Pentagon and the Premier Center?
I think the annual game in a unique facility and atmosphere like the Pentagon and the Summit League Tournament in front of a partisan crowd at the Premier
Center really set us apart from many other mid-majors and I'm sure we are leveraging it with recruits.

Teddy Allen, a 6'5" SF out of Boys Town, NE, has been offer by the Jacks.

From what I've gathered, he has had a dominate month of July on the summer basketball circuit, particularly at the Sanford Pentagon event that just finished up. He apparently moved from Arizona to Nebraska not all that long ago.

Below is a slightly dated video, which might not be a great gauge of his current skills considering that his recruiting has only recently pick up.

I think that's an apt comparison. Both are in the 6'6" range, are wing players, and both attend(ed) smaller high schools.

His bio on WisSportsNet makes him sound similar as well:

Outstanding long-distance shooter who can drill shots from well beyond the three-point arc. Gets good lift on his jump shot. Strong foul shooter who is working on getting more aggressive taking the ball to the basket. Averaged 21.0 ppg as a junior and earned first-team all-league honors in the Fox Valley Association.

TJ is really working Wisconsin, which is nice to see. Arians also had an offer from Wright State.

With having absolutely no knowledge of the situation, I'd say you are on the right track. You don't go through a coaching transition without one or both of your questions happening.

Not sure of the players' scholarship status, but there are two seniors and at least one walk-on presently listed on the 14-man roster for 2016-17. I believe the men get 13 scholarships. There must be room for at least three scholarship recruits. Maybe a player or two is playing without an immediate scholarship. Guys have done that before. I believe George Marshall paid for his first semester or two.

The websites call him a SF or 3 spot. Zimmer has him recruited as a guard. The 3 would be a bigger need looking down the road as the 1 and 2 spots appear loaded. Arians appears to check in as a SG.

14 on the roster and Beau Brown is a walk on. 2 are seniors. Would any of the new commits be a walk on? Or a promise of scholarship after a year?
