There are many young people who get some type of intern work for less money than a regular job in the employment of a particular field. Some may receive no compensation at all. That is the direction I was suggesting. If the information/reporting is important to SDSU Athletics, there may be a solution created on the SDSU side rather than the Argus side. Refer to the KELO example for the footage used on the evening sports. I would guess that air fare and hotels and meals would also require some money for an extra body with the team. It is an approach that SDSU might want to create the news. It has nothing to do with free lunch.
I totally get where you are coming from, from an SDSU standpoint. Am surprised to hear that about KELO. Maybe the ethics barriers are breaking down but most news organizations that I know of have strict ethics guidelines requiring them to pay their own way to maintain both the journalistic and fiduciary arms'-length relationships with the institutions/events they cover. News organizations pay, literally, millions of dollars a year to travel with the President of the United States, for instance. I am pretty sure that that distance and pay-your-way relationship is still a guiding ethos for most news organization that seriously cover college sports. Doesn't SDSU already do what you are talking about in the form of videos, Sports Information Bureau stories, etc.? What you want is a truly independent voice covering the team, not someone who is beholden to the images the institution chooses to put forth and the information it chooses to make public. Sometimes, a lot of the times, the news is in what they want to witthold.

There is a direct corollary to dropping subscriptions and looking for look-arounds on pay-sites and what is happening here. No one would expect to drive up to a gas pump on their way to a game and drive away without paying.
But who would pay for watered down gasoline?

Reducing the content will not increase readership/subscriptions. Allowing a bypass online will not increase subscriptions. If the business model is not viable it will disappear.

Great win on Sat. I've not watched Jacks BB for nearly as long as some on this board but why would ORU be a tough place to play? Seems there's no home court advantage at all. I can only guess it's the long drive etc to getthere. I read here where the ORU posts thought Larson would be easy to defend?????? Their posts were easily the worst we've seen from a team that actually has some. Give Larson a 1-1 matchup and assuming he's motivated, he'll dominate like he did Sat. Bittle had an excellent second half. Marshall and Telly with off nights. Telly couldn't get any looks as ORU threw more of a wing at him than the usual "4" he seemed to have been matched up with this year but he's due to be off occasionally.

The rebounding is in an issue but it's mostly our guards that are giving up the majority. Bittle, Parks and Marshall are on the floor way too much to only average 13/game boards between them. Seems Nagy is after Marshall a lot to board better.

I don't think the ORU posts said anything about Larson.

Now, the "posters" on the ORU board is a different story.

Tulsa was a tough place to play from the time the Jacks joined the Summit until ORU left. For most of that time period (up to the last year or two before they left) , they and Oakland had more talent than the rest of the league and almost no one won on their home floors. That isn't the case anymore. Take away Emagano and there didn't seem to be a lot there. I think ORU left because they saw that talent gap closing , and they thought the Dakota schools had a huge advantage with the tourney in Sioux Falls. They obviously discovered the grass wasn't greener and they came back. It will be interesting to see if both their men and women will get their talent level back to where it was a few years ago.

I agree with this. When we first joined the Summit, they no doubt had more talent.

I wonder though, did SDSU close the gap more than ORU has regressed? I think it's pry a combination.

Really? I would say if you watched the game it was very easy to figure this out.

                            Somebody needs a Snickers!

Great win for the Jacks! Congrats to Coach Nagy on his first win in Tulsa. There were things to improve upon that have been touched on by many. You have to love the gritty determination and effort that they are showing though. When they play defense like that I don't see us losing a game. This is the kind of win that totally highlights their improvement. Defense travels!

It was great to see Bittle play that well. He's got it in him and we need to see more of it. His feet issues have held him back. Hopefully this is a sign he is feeling better. Cody was a beast!

Jacks in first with only one two-game road trip to IUPUI & IPFW and two single game trips to WIU and USD. Four big games at home against Denver, Omaha, NDSU, and ORU. The schedule is certainly in our favor in the second half of the conference season. Then we hit the road for The Summit at the Falls!

                            Keep playing hard men!

                              Yes! Someone's a little cranky!

Let me explain my response to big ticket without stooping to name calling

Let's compare SDSU in 08-09 to now. No doubt we are way way more talented.

Let's compare ORU then to now. I don't think they are as talented as they were in 08-09 now, but I also don't think the talent difference (between then and now for them) is as great as SDSU from 08-09 to now.
