Still a young team. 4 freshman played a lot of minutes in this game. While disappointed with the outcome, still a long ways from hitting the panic button.
Reed looked really good in an exhibition game but he's struggled to start the season. Conner could be a force but so far he has had a problem with fouls. Of course, Zach might have played better last night if he didn't get into foul trouble. I think he has 9 could in 2 games. When you get 2 early and have to sit on the bench (as a senior leader) that shortens the bench even more. The rest of the bench hasn't played much to be a factor, yet.
Missing Marshall now maybe cost us 2 games but I'm sure it will help us later this year and probably over the next 3 years. If he was playing now, we would have our standard 6 man rotation and some of the younger players probably wouldn't get much playing time. Hopefully they can start to get comfortable playing more time and when Marshall joins the team they are better suited to come in and play some quality minutes.
I would rather haveMarshall playing now because 3 constants are better than 2 and two wins are much better than none but there are some positives to starting the season the way it has.

Re: Idaho
I think they will be deep and they will need to be deep. Right now I like way the Larson is competing. I liked the way Parks played and as a 2 he's going to be good. Bittle forced too much last night but you can't argue with how hard he plays. Reed is a shooter and I'd like to see us spot him up more. Great stroke. Flatten appears to have some flair and some nice upside too. Conner and Ian spend too much time 20 feet from the basket setting those aforementioned picks and our rebounding suffers and very few post looks except for Cody. I'd love to see more high/low action. Zach's foul trouble isn't a concern for me, he'll be fine. Broman was spotted up once last night for a 3 right before Bittle charged but I love those type of kickouts. That's what Andres does well.
All that said, we gave up 81 points to a team who probably won't average 65 in the Big Sky. Sure they made some shots late but everyone does.

From the two game sample Flatten looks like the other constant. The other players that played good in one of the two games are Zach H. and Parks.

So far, defense and rebounding have been the biggest issues. This is because we're a step slow, not in foot speed, but rather realizing what needs to be done. Once it becomes more natural and the young players adjust to the speed of them game, I think we'll see some dramatic improvement in these areas. If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

That is a hell of a game. 6 total assists is an indictment on the entire team not just one player.

I know this is off-topic, but I'm not sure if there's a better place to ask, so I'll post it here and you guys can yell at me if I'm wrong to do that.
I've now read through a couple of your game day threads. I see tons of names of who will or won't be good, who should be playing more and who shouldn't, who will make a huge impact when he arrives (Marshall), etc.
The only name I feel like I haven't seen on ANY threads besides the recruiting thread from his recruiting class is Doyle. What's the deal with him? Has anyone heard anything about him? Has he played at all this year? Will he play at all?
I just remember him being fairly well-recruited out of HS in Minnesota, but, like I said, I don't know if I've seen his name on this forum since he committed/signed a couple of years ago.

I would guess next year will be more of his make-or-break year, as it'll be his third year in the program and he won't have a senior, all conference post eating up minutes in front of him.If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.
