Thats amongst many reasons why students IMHO are not turing out for games.......
I'm sorry, but a lot of us just aren't buying what you are selling. I can't remember (honestly), but what year were the students moved behind the baskets?

Are you trying to make the point that some students that are on campus today, don't go to the games because they can't sit the length of the court, albeit when some (if not all) don't even know what it was like to sit there in the first place? IMO, that just doesn't hold water - hence all the grief you are taking on this uber thread drift.

I do share the sentiment that unless you are a season ticket holder with high priority points, it is extremely tough to get your hands on the primo seats, even when season ticket holders with those seats don't attend games. Thankfully, we have folks like JacksFan#1 that let us sniff those seats every once in a while........even if they are gone 30 seconds after he posts they are available!

Its part of the student apathy that is connected to many different things. I dont know how you can argue its good for students when it clearly benefited the season ticket holders. every change the admin has made IMHO in the last 10-15 years has added to that along with the loss of double headers and familiarty with the confrence teams coming in. This isnt something that just happened overnight why students dont show up in masses. I would bet a case of beer that had Frost kept the ground level bleachers and the students had sideline seats still with how good the team has been the last 4 years attendance would be better for students. Most confrence games when I was a student were pretty packed in student section.

So i will point it out again, those seats sucked, seasons ticket holders didnt want um, so why would students. doesnt take more then a game or 2 and i bet some students who went to a game there realized the seating how its set up, sucks. I dont know how anyone can claim otherwise. Most other schools who have students at the baselines, start on the court and go up and have had it that way for years which allowed more of a culture to build around it. Guess I am the only one who sees it that way.

Fargo has the students behind the team and the band and the old people like me took the bleachers. Bleachers on the end are not the worst seat in the house. I do not buy the argument about the ends. The best answer is not out there yet, but I would guess it will be more than 1 answer.

        THIS!!! THIS!!! THIS!!!

I could see lower attendance if we sucked. How much better could we be? 5-in-a-row for women to NCAA and 2-in-a-row for men! It isn't going to get better. On both sides we are putting the best athletes on the court that have ever played here (as a whole team, see other thread for that argument) and it is still quiet.

OldHare is right. There isn't a single reason. In this era there are more reasons than ever why it isn't full (cost, other options, access to great seats, mirror scheduling, no doubleheaders, etc.) but I will never get why there was only 2,144 there last night.

You missed out on possibly the best display of basketball by any team at SDSU in history. It was that good!

          Sorry for the rant.
          Jack#1Fan,
Goon is right he never made that comment about Justin Sells, SF_Rabbit_Fan is the culprit. SHAME ON U SF. Either way your comments about Justin Sell and what he has accompolished are right on target, and yes this winter is one for the books with the continued cold temps. As much as I appreciated Fred Oien, I don't think he would have had the courage to take on the current projects. Even Fred in a brief conversation remarked how impressed he was with his successor. To think we will have a a new football stadium by 2016, was something I could never visualize until the wheels started to turn in that direction.

As far as the student apathy, its a big difficult riddle to solve. Students now days are dead serious about having a productive future and they just don't seem to take time to watch our very good basketball team(s). If its not academics then its other social opportunities that are keeping them away in droves. I don't have any answers.

I do like bigticket1 idea of offering unused season tickets for resale, and being able to deduct gifted tickets on your tax return.

I didn't mean to imply Justin Sell is doing anything less than fantastic. Just that he will likely not have anything to do with SDSU in 15 years. Its the nature of his job.

I get what you are saying, and most likely you might be right, but Brookings tends to grow on outsiders. Justin would qualify as an outsider. Jack#1, may have taken the comment in the wrong light as well. Just having a little fun.

                          I'll echo this sentiment.

I don't have a problem with the students getting moved behind the baskets, as that is where they can be the impact the game the most and, quite frankly, can be pretty darn good seats as well. The problem with the current setup is the execution. The seats need to go all the way to the floor and be as close to the action as possible.

Even though they were the 1st place team, IPFW isn't that "sexy" of a game. There really isn't any history with them. NDSU and USD are the no brainers...but since Oakland left there really isn't another team that you really want to see SDSU beat. That's why I'm glad ORU is back, I love jeering those guys and girls...
