Skyler flatten could be a major player among that group by year two also. 6'6. Averaged 23 pts, 8 rebounds. 5 assists and 3 steals as a senior. Suddenly we appear to be guard-rich for the next two years.

I think Flatten could play a 2/3. This is a nice problem to have though 😉

When news of the possible transfer broke , I went to the Badger fan board and read a thread about Marshall transferring. A number of their fans thought Marshall would have a good chance for applying for an injury waiver and getting two seasons of eligibility since he apparently only played in their first game and about two minutes of the second before suffering a concussion. Don't have any idea if this is possible - their fans were also very complimentary of Marshall and thought he would be a good addition wherever he ended up.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marshall gets 2 years of eligibility since he only played 2 games so far this season due to injury. I don't really like the idea of a player not playing half the season but then joins for the 2nd half. It could take the team awhile to get the feel for each other in real-game situations.

Knowing that it is highly possible that he gets 2 full years. Also, it would be crazy if the Jacks get 2 transfers from BCS schools and get waivers for them to play right away.

Hiring Krabbenhoft might prove to be Nagy's best hire to date. Apparently he had some connection to George Marshall. Finally Dave Boots is not in this picture or this dog fight.

It was only a reference to the General from WW2 and also the author of the "Marshall Plan."

Having Nate Wolters playing for the Milwaukee Bucks probably didn't hurt SDSU's appeal either. Marshall apparently lost playing time this season to a young stud after suffering a concussion and missing several games. A medical redshirt for the past semester would seem to be a realistic possibility. That would give him two years of eligibility. Regardless, he looks like a great addition for the Jacks.

Good move to get a true point guard on the roster for the future. This buys the coaching staff a couple of years to go out and find that next great high school point to bring into the program . Is Marshall eligible to practice as soon as classes start for spring semester ?

As far as practicing, I am not aware of any rules even during the 1 year sit period. Not being a Frost rat like I used to be, I can not vouch that there was not some kind of a workout during his visit last Sunday. There might have been. You mentioned on the Badger board discussion of a concussion. You hope he has recovered from that and all is well physically.

Same concept as Callahan when he transferred from UND. He'll sit a year and play next January. He'll practice for that year so to say he won't be on the same page as the players is wrong. He'll just need to get up to game speed.

                              Re: George Marshall....Possible New Transfer

TV has an article about Marshall in today's Argus. Marshall mentions both Wolters' success and seeing the Jacks play in the NCAA tournament as factors that led him here. Success builds success.

                              http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs...=2014301060012

TV also mentioned both Marshall and Parks in today's blog:
Incoming Wisconsin transfer point guard George Marshall can’t play in a game for SDSU until the middle of next season. But he can start practicing next week once classes begin. He plans to be productive with that.
"Spent a lot of time working on my game and at the same time preparing the team for conference play coming up and the rest of the games throughout this year," he said. "It’s definitely an important time for me."

The addition of Marshall means that SDSU could end up getting big minutes from two transfer guards next season as Iowa Lakes All-American Deondre Parks is already signed and off to a hot start in his sophomore season.
Through 13 games, Parks is putting up 24.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 25.9 minutes per game. He’s shooting 53.3 percent from the field, 48.5 percent from deep and 83.3 percent from the foul line, where he’s getting 8.0 attempts per game.
Parks is viewed as a combo guard whereas Marshall is more of a true point. Both are smaller and quicker than their recent predecessors.

He really can push the ball up the floor in a hurry. It's fun to think of the possible line-up combinations for next season. I would love to see Marshall and Parks at the guards,Bittle shifting to the 3 in place of Chad White and Larson and Devine underneath. Would be a little under-sized but tough for teams to match up with.
