If South Dakota State fans have a flaw, it has to be our unrealistic expectation that other men should be as impossibly good-looking as we are (ha ha).
I didn't intend to turn my speculation into a full-blown rumor, but a big upside of going to the Celtics would be playing for Coach Rivers. I think Doc's picture should be in the dictionary beside the word "classy"...He was a fun to watch player in his day and no doubt has the leadership abilities to be the GM. No doubt he knows his own numbers at BYU and hopefully he sees the parallels and picks Nate. I am not sure what kind of animal I look like.

4.6 assists per game
4.6 rebounds per game
52.6% shooting from field
Drafted 31st overall, first player chosen in second round, played 13 years in the NBA, where he amassed 11,964 points and 4,199 assists

Take this as you want, but your 32% threshold seems to be pretty accurate for guys getting a green light to shoot more often. All I'm saying is that Nate is a good enough shooter that if he gets 2-3 attempts per game, he's likely to make one even at NBA range. He's not going to be Rondo or Rubio that you can dare to take shots without worrying too much.
Oh yeah, and do go check out Jacks baseball if you get the chance. If you like pitching our 1-2 combo is tough to beat.

Chris Paul 35.8%
Rajon Rondo 24.1%
Derrick Rose 31%
Ricky Rubio 28.7%
Russell Westbrook 30%
In other words, a weak three-point shooter should wait until he's open enough to shoot around 32 percent, and a great three-point shooter should keep shooting until defenses find a way to hold him around 32 percent. Then it's a matter of how many threes a player is actually making. (This is an oversimplified generalization, but hopefully it makes sense.)

Re: Michigan GDT
The Grantland.com piece is excellent writing, just like the author's work following the Jackrabbits through the conference tourney win last season.
When I read the following from the article, I thought Oh, oh, here comes that 'flagship' dispute again! If readers from any other school take offense, keep in mind it's the author's work!
Compared to most teams from low-major conferences, South Dakota State has a large and dedicated fan base, the result of being the flagship school for this sparsely populated state.

Originally posted by Kurt_Evans View PostI rarely make predictions, but after the way he blanketed Sports Illustrated's national player of the year on Thursday, I'll be shocked if someone doesn't take him in the first round. It's hard to draw useful conclusions from three-point percentages with no reference to shot volume. Most of these guys could probably raise their percentages into the forties just by being more selective, but I'd say a player who shoots forty percent on threes over the course of a season is being _too_ selective. Factoring in the extra offensive rebounding opportunities, a good target range is typically the low thirties. The real question is how fatigued or closely guarded a player can be and still continue shooting in that range. In other words, a weak three-point shooter should wait until he's open enough to shoot around 32 percent, and a great three-point shooter should keep shooting until defenses find a way to hold him around 32 percent.
