Could have beat Oakland today and its frustrating. Oakland is good in February though, esp. at their place. Dykstra needs to show up during the game and play better plain and simple. He's our second best player and potential all-conference player, and he needs to play like that. Bader had way too many easy looks for a 3pt shooter.

Totally agree. In 2 games nate scored over 80 points our second best player on the team scored 7 in both games. Nate is playing to well to not let him do even more which is sad to say considering he is doing more then his fair share.

Agree with you and RabbitObsessed. Nate is so unselfish that it actually bugs me sometimes. Wolters is playing great right now, but Dykstra needs to step it up if the Jacks want to win the tournament.

Tough loss but not unexpected. Just sucks when you have the best player in school history and we can't win at oakland probably won't next year ou and ndsu will be fighting for 1 and 2nd. Sdsu with 3 capable starters back and some fresh players will be tough to see where we line up. I think usd and usd will be fighting for 3 and 4 seed. Don't know enough about omaha yet but even though next year looks like ndsu and ou will seperate. Don't think western will be competing like they are this year. But in sioux falls we would still be the team people don't want to face imho.

Wish we would have switched of on the screens for the 3 point shooters. Our perimiter defenders are not good enough getting around the screens so switching off imo would have cut off more of those open 3s. I know I'm not smarter then nagy on this stuff but as a fan it seems we were playing into what they wanted. Offense was good enough even with dykstra struggling. White helped out fiegen got some points and carlson a few. I would rather heemtra get more offense looks in the post to complement fiegen considering since dykstra got over 1000 in the career he has been off his offensive game. I think we need to use dykstra as a bigger travis bader. Get him more looks coming off screens and have the ball only in his hands on open drives and 3s. Tough to stop a team when they shoot that hot but scoring 80in a game is tough to lose.

Im not gonna call you crazy cause that'd make me crazy too. Oakland wont shoot like they did tonight in SF. And we know what the Bison history is in SF. Not worried about Western.

I gotta be honest, next year scares the crap out of me. Is our bench so god-awful that we could only play 2 minutes today? No wonder we ran out of steam on the defensive end. I do understand playing for the now, but you have to develop for the future a little bit. Does this mean that we will be playing freshman next year, because we have absolutely no faith in our bench players? They are so bad that they can't even give someone a 2 minute break? Was everyone, short of Nate, so dynamic that we couldn't afford to take them out? After 2 years of standing stationary watching Nate do all the work, are they even going to be able to be aggressive offensively on their own again? So many aquestions so few answers. After today my frickin' head is going to explode! That's all....carry on.

I haven't read through the thread yet so my apologies if I echo someone else.

Frustrating loss. Drew Valentine got called for his 4th foul at what, around the 16 minute mark? He never sat out and never picked up #5. I was very frustrated that we didn't attack him more. He would have either fouled out or given us easy shots at the rim. I recall one time Dykstra went at him and he gave Dykstra the lane and and easy layup...which he missed.

Speaking of Dykstra....Fhwagads....where was he again tonight on offense?

I'm not a basketball mind, so I have no clue how, but we gotta figure out how to defend Bader better on those screens. So many open shots.

The thing I keep coming back to though is Valentine playing basically the entire 2nd half with 4 fouls and we didn't attack him more and get him his 5th. Every possesion...go at Valentine. Go at Valentine...please please go at Valentine.

Finally, I hate the O'rena. I don't understand why that's such an intimidating place to play.

when we got to the game and watched warmups Dykstra was sitting next to the court while the rest of the team was shooting. dont know if he was talking to the coach with him or what.

My 2 cents on defense. They killed us. On 3s because we were usually going under the screen. Becasue when they went over it oakland wiould hip check the guy curling behind him. Example during the 2nd half about 13:30 to go calrson was coming around ablove the screen and petrso leaned into him and sent him to the deck. Imo that's a foul. Valentine is great at the hip check. Imho we should have switched off on the screen defender. Usually that is bad depending on creating mis matches which usually can be bad if a team would exploit the mismatch. When its a jump shooting team ie oakland they want to shoot it not drive it. Which I feel would make oakland have to pass out of the shots. To me what I see watching the game is oakland out coached us. We put up 83 points and for the most part oakland played some pretty good D. They were very active. It comes down to adjustments and we didn't change from what I saw. There were some tomes that we changed who we were guarding but still tried to just slip under screens.

Re watching the second half I didn't get to see it earlier I watched the first half. Seems oakland had about 3 illegal screens which at home looked really obvious. Also we gave up a lot of wide open 3s. When the post comes up thw set the screen it looks like we didn't react to it. Which they ran essentially every trip down. That high screen we never got around it or defended it well at all.

Sort of frustrating watching our 3s clank off the front rim. Missed a lot off the front rim.

Then I just think while watching the replay why are their guys in their undies behind our bench. I though it was league rules seating behind the visitor bench was for vistiors. Appears oakland doesn't do that.

Jacks lost because Wolters broke the career assist record he lost, as he lost at USD when he broke the scoring record. That is what I'm claiming
