  • Re: NDSU

At the half, it was NDSU 37-31.
At 18:45, NDSU's Felt hit a three, making the score 40-33.

And then NDSU took a trip to the freezer. It had nothing to do with refs (and if anyone wanted to complain about the refs at that time, it should be SDSU fans and Heemstra's parents...he picked up two quick ones that are head-scratchers). It had a lot to do with SDSU contesting NDSU on every shot and SDSU getting the rebounds.

NDSU didn't score again until 9:47 when they hit a two, making the score SDSU 50, NDSU 42.

By about the 6:50 mark, it was SDSU 58, NDSU 45, and the Jacks were in control. The defense was now doing to NDSU what NDSU's defense had done to SDSU early in the game.

Just before the game started...here's a picture looking at the SE corner of Frost to give those who weren't there, some idea of the crowd density. You can see a seat here and there but there weren't many left. People were on the top row of the bleachers, all the way to the corners. One of the nice things about Frost: there really aren't any bad seats in the place.

Getting knocked to the ground and constant reaching in are fouls. More were called in the second half. Inconsistant reffing is hard for players to adjust to game after game after game. Call me what you want but when the teams are giving it their all trying to play at a high level I expect a high level of officiating.

They tried it once or twice but the middle was too clogged up for it to work.
Had they left Brown on Nate, he would have fouled out in about 30 seconds. Nate was so aggressive and dynamic at that point in the game that Brown would have had no chance of guarding him.
        Holy nutmeg!

Was a fun game. At the end of the first half it felt like so many other XDSU rivalry games in recent history. Glad the Rabbits could win.
Should have said take to the basket , not necessarily post up. Loved the move when Jordan just put his head down and fouled Brown out by taking it hard to the basket from out on the wing.

You bet. Fairly certain of the outcome of the game, but do look forward to the interaction with Jacks fans. I think that's always fun. Last year I was treated really well, and had a few laughs despite the ass whooping we took. Once again, great win, great crowd, and great anticipation for Thursday.Do any of you posters congregate together?YFE

I think the intentional foul on bjorkman was warrented because on the drive Bjorkman was holding his arm then the contact escalated from there. So the his intention was not to defend but to keep Dykstra from dunking. I was sitting in row 5 section B so I had a pretty good vatage point on the play.

I would have to guess about 100 bison fans. I sure didnt see any group of 100 bison fans anywhere. I was on the North side

The only question is why didn't the Jacks adjust accordingly and play tighter, more touching, a little rougher? The refs were calling an even game but allowing more contact. In many games, the same play by Wolters would have put him on the line many times but not in this game. Credit NDSU for taking advantage of that.

Well, the teams weren't the only parties making half-time adjustments. The refs came out in the second half calling the game differently but this time, NDSU failed to adjust. So, more fouls were called on them in the second half. SDSU tightened up its defense but did so just the right amount. NDSU cooled off on its shooting and we improved our percentages. The Jacks found a rhythm in the second half.
My thoughts exactly. Very well said.

we were above the Bison bench in general seating about 11th row up... I was surrounded by Bison fans and every row in front of me was primarily bison... not to mention the side corner on the east side was a lot of bison... maybe it just felt like a lot because I was surrounded but I would say way more than 100 were there.

It must have felt like being at John Deere day. Everyone wearing Yellow and green. Unfortunately they were in the market to get a win and not buy a tractor. These are my feeling being near or part of a NDSU tailgate.

Two back-to-back crowds of 5,500+ (not sure USD game will hit 6,000) will sure help boost average attendance and ticket revenues. It sure is a pleasant surprise to hear that their expectations of 4,500 were way off.

Yesterday should have given a lot of you a chance to judge the new seating arrangement with a full house. What were your impressions of the split student sections? Where did the overflow students go an was there a problem? I asked TV this on the chat during the game and he (again) said he thinks the students may have more of an impact with the current setup.

I think the attendance numbers were different from projected, because the student turnout was a lot higher than they expected. Hope they turn out Thursday.

No way not unless they were wearing blue. Did you see JD's pic?

Sitting on the north, it had the look of quite a few bison green sitting in a strip in the general admission above the visitor bench. They were strung up the section more than across the section. There were a fair number in the reserved behind the bench as well. It looked like way more than 100, but it has been a few days since I counted livestock by 5's so I would not confirm 400 number either. Either way it is good that there are those who can go back to Fargo and share about this defeat with those that did not come. It was a game that had to give the Summit some juice for the conference race. (I think we can talk about the Jacks as being a legitimate contender for the regular season title.) Go Jacks!
